Amanda Truelove (born 1961) is a cellist from the United Kingdom. She studied with Joan Dickson and Amaryllis Fleming Amaryllis Marie-Louise Fleming (10 December 1925 – 27 July 1999) was a British cello performer and teacher. Cello
The cello ( ; plural ''celli'' or ''cellos'') or violoncello ( ; ) is a Bow (music), bowed (sometimes pizzicato, plucked and occasionally col legno, hit) string instrument of the violin family. Joan Dickson
Katherine Joan Balfour Dickson (21 December 1921 – 9 October 1994) was a Scottish cellist and cello teacher. Biography Dickson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on 21 December 1921 to Marjorie Balfour Lowe and Dr Douglas Dickson, a lawyer and Writer to the Signet. She worked primarily in the United Kingdom, and was a professor at the Royal College of Music in London. She was also a notable performer, giving many duo recitals with her longtime partner Joyce Rathbone. Joan also collaborated regularly with her sister Hester, who was also a pianist, and a piano accompaniment lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland until 2014. She studied with Enrico Mainardi in Paris. Her students included Moray Welsh, Ian Hampton, Melissa Phelps, Alexander Baillie, Richard Harwood, Andrew Shulman, Ruth Beauchamp and Louisa Tuck. Anner Bylsma
Anner Bylsma (born Anne Bijlsma, 17 February 1934 – 25 July 2019) was a Dutch cellist who played on both modern and period instruments in a historically informed style. He took an interest in music from an early age. He studied with Carel van Leeuwen Boomkamp at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and won the ''Prix d'excellence'' in 1957. In 1959, he won the first prize in the Pablo Casals Competition in Mexico. Later he was for six years (from 1962 to 1968) the principal cellist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. He became an Erasmus Scholar at Harvard University in 1982. Jacqueline Du Pré
Jacqueline Mary du Pré (26 January 1945 – 19 October 1987) was a British cellist. At a young age, she achieved enduring mainstream popularity. Despite her short career, she is regarded as one of the greatest cellists of all time. Her career was cut short by multiple sclerosis, which forced her to stop performing at the age of 28; she died 14 years later at the age of 42. She was the subject of the 1998 biographical film ''Hilary and Jackie'', which attracted criticism for perceived inaccuracy and sensationalism.
