Entomopoxvirinae
''Entomopoxvirinae'' is a subfamily of viruses, in the family ''Poxviridae''. Insects, human, vertebrates, and arthropods serve as natural hosts. There are currently 31 species in this subfamily, divided among 4 genera with one species unassigned to a genus. Diseases associated with this subfamily include: impairment of motility and development. Structure The virions are generally enveloped though the intracellular mature virion form of the virus, which contains a different envelope, is also infectious. They vary in their shape depending upon the species but are generally shaped like a brick or as an oval form similar to a rounded brick because they are wrapped by the endoplasmic reticulum. The genome is exceptionally large, around 250-380kb in length and the virion diameter is around 350 nm. It carries its genome in a single, linear, double-stranded segment of DNA. Life cycle Viral replication is cytoplasmic. Entry into the host cell is achieved by attachment of the vi ... Poxviridae
''Poxviridae'' is a family of double-stranded DNA viruses. Vertebrates and arthropods serve as natural hosts. There are currently 83 species in this family, divided among 22 genera, which are divided into two subfamilies. Diseases associated with this family include smallpox. Four genera of poxviruses may infect humans: '' Orthopoxvirus'', '' Parapoxvirus'', '' Yatapoxvirus'', '' Molluscipoxvirus''. ''Orthopoxvirus'': smallpox virus (variola), vaccinia virus, cowpox virus, monkeypox virus; ''Parapoxvirus'': orf virus, pseudocowpox, bovine papular stomatitis virus; ''Yatapoxvirus'': tanapox virus, yaba monkey tumor virus; ''Molluscipoxvirus'': molluscum contagiosum virus (MCV). The most common are vaccinia (seen on the Indian subcontinent) and molluscum contagiosum, but monkeypox infections are rising (seen in west and central African rainforest countries). The similarly named disease chickenpox is not a true poxvirus and is caused by the herpesvirus varicella zost ... Viruses
A virus is a submicroscopic infectious agent that replicates only inside the living cells Cell most often refers to: * Cell (biology), the functional basic unit of life Cell may also refer to: Locations * Monastic cell, a small room, hut, or cave in which a religious recluse lives, alternatively the small precursor of a monastery w ... of an organism. Viruses infect all life forms, from animals and plants to microorganisms, including bacteria and archaea. Since Dmitri Ivanovsky's 1892 article describing a non-bacterial pathogen infecting tobacco plants and the discovery of the tobacco mosaic virus by Martinus Beijerinck in 1898,Dimmock p. 4 more than 9,000 virus species have been described in detail of the millions of types of viruses in the environment. Viruses are found in almost every ecosystem on Earth and are the most numerous type of biological entity. The study of viruses is known as virology, a subspeciality of microbiology. Anomala Cuprea Entomopoxvirus
''Anomala'' is a genus of shining leaf chafers in the family of beetles known as Scarabaeidae. There are at least 1,200 described species in ''Anomala''. A common characteristic behavior of beetles in ''Anomala'' is that most grubs of these species feed on the roots of grasses, becoming a pest in many areas where they invade. One notable species is the Oriental beetle (''Anomala orientalis''), which was introduced to North America and has since become a major pest in several mid-Atlantic states. Selected species *''Anomala albopilosa'' *''Anomala anoguttata'' *''Anomala cupripes'' *'' Anomala binotata'' *'' Anomala cavifrons'' *'' Anomala delicata'' *'' Anomala hualienensis'' *''Anomala flavipennis'' *''Anomala horticola'' *''Anomala innuba'' *''Anomala linwenhsini'' *''Anomala lucicola'' *''Anomala ludoviciana'' *''Anomala marginata'' *''Anomala oblivia'' *'' Anomala orientalis'' *''Anomala undulata'' *''Anomala vitis'' *''Anomala wutaiensis'' See also * List of Anomala s ... Aphodius Tasmaniae Entomopoxvirus
''Aphodius'' is a genus of beetles in the family Scarabaeidae. In most species both the adults and larvae are coprophagous (dung feeding) although some species have herbivorous or saprophagous larvae. ''Aphodius'' species typically dominate dung beetle communities in north temperate ecosystems. Most species are functionally classified as endocoprids, also known as dwellers, because the larvae live and feed within the dung pat itself. Species These 44 species belong to the genus ''Aphodius'', including 21 extinct species. * ''Aphodius beloni'' Mulsant & Godart, 1879 * ''Aphodius calichromus'' Balthasar, 1932 * ''Aphodius cardinalis'' Reitter, 1892 * ''Aphodius clypeatus'' Fischer von Waldheim, 1821 * ''Aphodius coniugatus'' (Panzer, 1795) * ''Aphodius corallifer'' Koshantschikov, 1913 * ''Aphodius crux'' Wiedemann, 1823 * '' Aphodius elegans'' Allibert, 1847 * ''Aphodius fasciger'' Harold, 1881 * ''Aphodius fimetarius'' (Linnaeus, 1758) * ''Aphodius foetidus'' (Herbst, 1783) * ... Figulus Sublaevis Entomopoxvirus
Publius Nigidius Figulus (c. 98 – 45 BC) was a scholar of the Late Roman Republic and one of the praetors for 58 BC. He was a friend of Cicero, to whom he gave his support at the time of the Catilinarian conspiracy. Nigidius sided with the Optimates in the civil war between Julius Caesar and Pompeius Magnus. Among his contemporaries, Nigidius's reputation for learning was second only to that of Varro. Even in his own time, his works were regarded as often abstruse, perhaps because of their esoteric Pythagoreanism, into which Nigidius incorporated Stoic elements. Jerome calls him ''Pythagoricus et magus'', a "Pythagorean and mage," and in the medieval and Renaissance tradition he is portrayed as a magician, diviner, or occultist. His vast works survive only in fragments preserved by other authors. Political career By 63 BC, Nigidius had been admitted to the Senate. He may have been aedile in 60 BC, when Cicero mentions that Nigidius was in a position to cite (''compe ... Melolontha Melolontha Entomopoxvirus
''Melolontha'' is a genus of beetles in the family Scarabaeidae. The European cockchafers belong to this genus. Taxonomy Linnaeus called the European cockchafer ''Scarabaeus melolontha''. Étienne Louis Geoffroy used ''Melolontha'' as a genus name (1762), but his book has been suppressed by the International Commission of Zoological Nomenclature, and the authority for the name is the later (1775) publication by Johan Christian Fabricius. Species The following is a list of species within the genus ''Melolontha'': *'' Melolontha aceris'' Faldermann, 1835 *'' Melolontha afflicta'' Ballion, 1870 *''Melolontha albida'' Frivaldszky, 1835 *''Melolontha anita'' Reitter, 1902 *''Melolontha argus'' Burmeister 1855 *''Melolontha bifurcata'' (Brenske, 1896) *'' Melolontha chinensis'' ( Guerin, 1838) *'' Melolontha ciliciensis'' Petrovitz *'' Melolontha flabellata'' Sharp, 1876 *'' Melolontha frater'' Arrow, 1913 – Indonesia *'' Melolontha fuscotestacea'' Kraatz, 1887 *'' M ...
