Alpha Tau Omega
Alpha Tau Omega (), commonly known as ATO, is an American social Fraternities and sororities, fraternity founded at the Virginia Military Institute in 1865 by Otis Allan Glazebrook. The fraternity has around 250 active and inactive chapters and colonies in the United States and has initiated more than 229,000 members. VMI Cadets are no longer associated with the fraternity. In 1885, the VMI Board of Visitors ruled that cadets could no longer join fraternities based on the belief that allegiance to a fraternal group undermined the cohesiveness of and loyalty to the Corps of Cadets. Alpha Tau Omega represents one-third of the Lexington Triad, along with Kappa Alpha Order and Sigma Nu. The Fraternity does not have chapters or affiliations outside the United States. John Garland James
John Garland James (born December 1, 1844 – February 12, 1930) was an American Civil War veteran, banker and academic administrator. He was the 2nd President of Texas A&M University, President of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas (now Texas A&M University). He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1867. Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide. It is commonly used for temporary refrigeration as CO2 does not have a liquid state at normal atmospheric pressure and Sublimation (phase transition), sublimes directly from the solid state to the gas state. The Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity House, also known as the ATO House, is a Colonial Revival building in Reno, Nevada that was built in 1929. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. History Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) predecessor organization at the University of Nevada, Reno was the local fraternity, Phi Delta Tau, founded in 1912. It was the third fraternity at the university. and Phi Delta Tau became the ''Delta Iota chapter'' of Alpha Tau Omega in 1921. In 1921, the chapter formed the Delta Iota Building Association which purchased a house at 745 University Avenue. In 1928, the ''Delta Iota chapter'' had 45 active members and had outgrown its two-story house which could only house twenty members. The fraternity built its chapter house in 1929.
