Alicios Theluji
Alicios Theluji (last name pronounced ''Ze-loo-gee''), (born in 1987), is a Congolese recording artist, based in Nairobi, Kenya. She sings in Swahili and Lingala, but is also fluent in English and French. Background and education She was born in Goma, in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1987, to "Jacky Kahara Laini" and a father who was a businessman. Her mother was a singer and tailor. Theluji's father died in an automobile accident when she was four years old. The family, which included Theluji, two siblings and their mother, relocated to Kinshasa, the capital and largest city in DR Congo. In 1993, when she was six years old, the family visited Kenya, but they returned to DR Congo. In 1996, when the First Congo War that removed Mobutu Sese Seko from power broke out, the family took refugee in Nairobi. Alicios attended St. Mary's School, Nairobi for her high school education. Goma
Goma is the capital of North Kivu province in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is located on the northern shore of Lake Kivu, next to the Rwandan city of Gisenyi. The lake and the two cities are in the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift system. Goma lies only south of the active Nyiragongo Volcano. The recent history of Goma has been dominated by the volcano and the Rwandan genocide of 1994, which in turn fuelled the First and Second Congo Wars. The aftermath of these events was still having effects on the city and its surroundings in 2010. Nathalie Makoma (born February 24, 1982), is a Congolese Dutch singer-songwriter. She was the lead singer for the group Makoma and she later embarked on a solo musical career on her own. She took part in the Dutch '' Idols'' singing competition in its fourth season reaching the final and finishing as runner-up to Nikki Kerkhof. As a result, she was signed to Sony BMG. M'bilia Bel (born January 10, 1959) is a Congolese rumba, rumba and world music singer from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She is known as the "Queen of Congolese and African Rumba". She rose to fame after first being discovered by Sam Mangwana, Sam Manguana and later by Tabu Ley Rochereau who helped her gain confidence, master her powerful soprano voice, and achieve acclaim as one of the best Congolese female singers.
