Alexei Popyrin (born 5 August 1999) is an Australian professional tennis player. He has a career-high Association of Tennis Professionals, ATP singles ranking of world No. 21 achieved on 9 June 2025. He also has a career-high ATP doubles ranking of No. 235 achieved on 27 June 2022. He is currently the No. 2 Australian singles player. He has won three singles titles on the ATP Tour, including a ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, Masters 1000 title in 2024 National Bank Open – Men's singles, Canada. 2019 French Open – Men's Singles
Two-time defending champion Rafael Nadal defeated Dominic Thiem in a rematch of the previous year's final, 6–3, 5–7, 6–1, 6–1 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2019 French Open. It was his record-extending twelfth French Open title and 18th major title overall. Defending champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury defeated Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski in the final, 7–6(7–4), 7–5 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2022 US Open. The 2008 Australian Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 96th edition of the Australian Open, and the first Grand Slam event of the year. It took place at the Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia, from 14 through 27 January 2008. After twenty years of playing on Rebound Ace, the courts were changed to Plexicushion, a marginally faster surface. The new surface is thinner, and therefore has lower heat retention. This decision was made in a bid to reduce the "stick" of the court and the frequency of the extreme heat policy being invoked. Kim Warwick (born 8 April 1952) is an Australian former professional male tennis player who competed on the ATP Tour from 1970 to 1987, reaching the singles final of the Australian Open in 1980. Alexei Popyrin defeated Andrey Rublev in the final, 6–2, 6–4 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2024 Canadian Open. It was his first Masters 1000 title and third career ATP Tour title.
