Alex Korio (born 20 December 1990) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. In 2019, he competed in the men's 10,000 metres at the 2019 World Athletics Championships held in Doha, Qatar. He finished in 11th place. In 2016, he won the men's race at the Granollers Half Marathon held in Granollers, Catalonia, Spain. In 2019, he won the men's race at the Beach to Beacon 10K held in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, United States. In the same year, he was also one of the pacemakers in the Ineos 1:59 Challenge, a successful attempt by Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge to break the two-hour mark for running the marathon distance. Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running come two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. The men's 10,000 metres at the 2019 World Athletics Championships was held at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha on 6 October 2019. 2019 World Athletics Championships
The 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships () was the seventeenth edition of the biennial, global sport of athletics, athletics competition organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), since renamed World Athletics. Granollers Half Marathon
The Granollers Half Marathon ( Catalan: ''Mitja Marató de Granollers'') is an annual road running competition over the half marathon distance (21.097 km) which takes place in February in the city of Granollers in Catalonia, Spain. The race is organised by the ''Col·lectiu d'Atletes de Fons'' group and was first held in 1987. The course starts and finishes in Granollers and passes through Les Franqueses del Vallès and La Garriga. It is among the more popular half marathon events in Spain with around 10,000 runners taking part in the day's events.. Beach To Beacon 10K
The TD Beach to Beacon 10K is a road running event that takes place along the coastline of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. It begins at Crescent Beach State Park and ends at the Portland Head Light in Fort Williams Park. Starting out as mainly a local race, world-class international athletes now participate in the annual event, including Catherine Ndereba, Meb Keflezighi, Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot, Hellen Obiri, and Edna Kiplagat. The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) is a Monaco-based organization founded by World Athletics in April 2017 to combat doping and address other forms of ethical misconduct in the sport of athletics. It operates independently from World Athletics to fulfill World Anti-Doping Code requirements. It is currently headed by Brett Clothier.
