Albert Watson (born 19 August 1903) was an English professional football midfielder. He made nearly 400 league appearances for Blackpool between 1923 and 1936. Career Watson signed for Blackpool from Felling Colliery F.C. in Felling, Gateshead, making his debut on 20 October 1923. He scored two goals in a 5–0 victory over Coventry City at Bloomfield Road and made a further 14 league appearances in the 1923–24 season, scoring another three goals. In his second season, 1924–25, Watson made 47 league and cup appearances, missing only two games in early March 1924. He was an ever-present the following season, 1925–26, and continued to appear regularly over the next few seasons. He won the Second Division championship in 1929–30 under the guidance of Harry Evans. Club career Early career Born in Belfast, Watson made his senior-club debut for Ballymena United on 4 December 2001 in a 1–1 draw against Institute, at 16 years of age. He attracted interest from Linfield in February 2008, although any interest concluded when Watson signed a new contract with Ballymena a few days later. Albert Watson II (January 5, 1909 – March 14, 1993) was a United States Army lieutenant general. He participated in World War II and fought in a number of significant battles in the Pacific Theater, including the Battle of Okinawa. From May 1961 to January 1963, Watson served as Commandant of Berlin and commanded American military forces there when construction of the Berlin Wall began. A major diplomatic incident occurred when members of Watson's staff were refused access to East Berlin. Riots also broke out during his tenure following the death of Peter Fechter. From 1964 to 1965, Watson filled the position of Commissioner of the United States Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands. He increased Ryuku autonomy but ultimately spoke against the significant lessening of American administration authority in the Ryukyus. Early life Watson was born in Montrose, Pennsylvania, on December 6, 1876. His father was Willoughby W. Watson, who practiced law for 50 years in Susquehanna County and Lackawanna County. His mother was Marie Kemmerer Watson. Education and early career Watson received an Artium Baccalaureus degree from Amherst College in 1901 and read law in 1903 to enter the bar.
