Adele Carles
Adele Simone Carles (born 19 February 1968) is an Australian former politician. She was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2009 to 2013, representing the electorate of electoral district of Fremantle, Fremantle. She was initially elected as a Greens Western Australia, Greens WA member at the 2009 Fremantle state by-election, becoming the first Greens candidate to be elected to an Australian state lower house of parliament in a single-member seat. However, she resigned from the Greens on 6 May 2010 to sit as an Independent politician, independent. In November 2010, Carles agreed to guarantee confidence and supply votes for the incumbent Colin Barnett Liberal Party of Australia (Western Australian Division), Liberal minority government. 2005 Marrickville State By-election
A by-election was held in the State Electoral District of Marrickville in New South Wales, Australia on 17 September 2005. The by-election was prompted by the resignation of the sitting member Deputy Premier Andrew Refshauge () on 10 August 2005, in the wake of the resignation of Premier Bob Carr. The by-election was timed to coincide with two other state by-elections in Macquarie Fields and Maroubra. The main contenders were the ALP's Carmel Tebbutt, who had been a member of the Legislative Council since 1998 and was the wife of Anthony Albanese, the member for the local federal electorate of Grayndler, and candidate Sam Byrne, who at that time was the deputy mayor of Marrickville. The City of Fremantle is a local government areas of Western Australia, local government area in the south of Perth, Western Australia. The City covers an area of , and lies about southwest of the Perth central business district. History The City of Fremantle is named after Charles Fremantle, who in 1829 claimed for George IV "all that part of New Holland (Australia) which is not included within the territory of New South Wales". In 1848 a town trust was formed comprising a chairman and a committee of five. For the next twenty-three years they set about constructing roads and many public buildings with the use of convict labour. By 1870 the population of Fremantle had reached 3,796 and it was a moderately flourishing town, resulting in a move among the colonists to secure greater control of the management of their affairs. Nigel Satterley
Nigel Satterley is the founder of Satterley Property Group, a privately owned real estate and land development company based in Perth, which develops residential estates in Western Australia and Victoria. History Satterley attended Governor Stirling Senior High School but left at the age of 16 to work at a clothing wholesaler in Midland. While working there, he acquired the Western Australian distributorship for Levi Jeans in the late 1960s. In 1967, Satterley was listed on the National Service Register as a national service registrant excluded by ballot. During the 1970s, Satterley established a building company called Statesman Homes, based at 135 St Georges Terrace. Around this time, he met James McCusker and Bob McKerrow, who founded the Town and Country Building Society (now part of ANZ). In 1980, Satterley sold Statesman Homes and founded Satterley Crofts.
