Les Rita Mitsouko
Les Rita Mitsouko (, translation: ''The Rita Mitsukos'') were a French pop rock group formed by Fred Chichin and Catherine Ringer. The duo first performed as Rita Mitsouko at Gibus Club in Paris in 1980. They went on to become one of the most acclaimed musical acts in France. " Marcia Baila", their debut single produced by Conny Plank, went to number 2 in the French singles chart in 1984. They then started a collaboration with producer Tony Visconti on two albums: '' the No Comprendo'' and '' Marc & Robert''. "Singing in the Shower", sung as a duet with Sparks, was a commercial success in France and was then heavily played on US dance radio stations in 1988. Iggy Pop also collaborated with them on 1993's '' Système D'', duetting with Ringer on "My Love Is Bad". Chichin died from cancer in 2007. ''Système D'' is the fourth studio album by French pop rock group Les Rita Mitsouko. It was released in 1993 and reached number seven on the French Albums Chart. ''Système D'' includes the singles "Y’A D’La Haine", "Les Amants", and "Femme d’Affaires". The album was recorded and produced by Fred Chichin and Catherine Ringer largely at a large Moroccan house situated in Essaouira (Formerly Mogador), where the group set up their studio. Initially the group had intended to produce the album with veteran producer Tony Visconti, having previously worked together on the group's previous two albums. Ringer and Chichin chose to produce the album themselves to find a new sound. The album was completed in the Parisian studios of Studio 6, Studio Davout, and Studio Mega. The album was mixed by American mixer Carmen Rizzo in Studio Davout. Receiving good reviews the album was originally released as a double-LP, Cassette and CD in November 1993. Bruno Beausir (; born May 10, 1974), known by his stage name Doc Gynéco (), is a French hip hop musician. His music is typically characterized as a ragga/rap style, that has found its fan base in France. Early life, family and education Born in Clichy-sous-Bois, France on May 10, 1974, Beausir's mother was of Guadeloupean origin and his father white. In 1990, he moved with his family to Paris, to Porte de la Chapelle, a district to which he would often pay homage in his songs. Career Doc Gynéco launched his career at age 19, writing a few tracks for the hardcore rap group Ministère AMER. After this rap group parted, Virgin Records signed him with the intent of converting his demos into an album in Paris. Catherine Ringer
Catherine Ringer (, born 18 October 1957 in Suresnes, France) is a French singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, dancer, choreographer, actress, and co-founder of the pop rock group Les Rita Mitsouko. She is also the daughter of French artist Sam Ringer. Biography Ringer started her professional career on stage in the late 1970s in productions with Michael Lonsdale's ''Théâtre de Recherche Musicale'' as well as musical and dance productions. In 1976, she met the Argentine dancer and choreographer Marcia Moretto with whom she studied and also performed in various venues in Paris. The hit song " Marcia Baïla" was written as a tribute to Moretto after her death in 1981. In 1979, she met Fred Chichin with whom she founded and co-led the music group Les Rita Mitsouko. Fred Chichin
Frédéric "Fred" Chichin (; 1 May 1954 – 28 November 2007) was a French musician, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He was part of the pop-rock duo Les Rita Mitsouko, along with Catherine Ringer, whom he met in 1979. Prior to his work in Les Rita Mitsouko, Chichin had been active in the rock bands Fassbinder (with Jean Neplin), Taxi Girl (with Daniel Darc), and Gazoline (with Alain Kan). Chichin died on the morning of 28 November 2007 from heart failure, following complications of the cancer the doctors had diagnosed two months earlier. "Marcia Baïla" is a 1984 song recorded by the French duo Les Rita Mitsouko. It was the third single from their first album, '' Rita Mitsouko'', and was released in April of that year. Dedicated to a dancer with the band who died in 1981, this song was a big hit both in France and abroad and can be considered as being one of the band's signature songs.
