Abul Fazl Shrine (Pashto/) is a shrine and mosque, located in Murad Khane, Kabul, Afghanistan. The facility was hit with a massive blast on 21 February 2023. There were no casualties. Murad Khane
Murad Khani or Murad Khane () is a small historical neighborhood in Kabul, Afghanistan. The neighborhood is part of the city's District 2, situated north of the Kabul River between Da Afghanistan Bank, Ministry of Defense, Eidgah Mosque, Pul-e Khishti Mosque and Kabul Serena Hotel. The Abul Fazl Shrine is in this neighborhood. History Murad Khane was named after two Murad Khans: one the brother of a 17th-century Mughal governor and the second an 18th-century general. The area was developed in the 18th century by Ahmad Shah Durrani, the founder of the Durrani Empire. As part of this development, many ornate structures were constructed to serve as housing for members of the Qizilbash tribe. The district was laid out in a traditional Islamic pattern, around a mosque, bath-house, garden and bazaar. 2011 Afghanistan Ashura Bombings
The 2011 Afghanistan Ashura bombings were a pair of bombings in the Afghan capital of Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif. The Kabul suicide bombing took place at around noon local time, on the day when Muslims commemorate Ashura, an annual holy day throughout the Muslim world particularly by the Shi'a Muslims. The first attack took place at the gate of a Shi'a shrine in Kabul and was caused by a suicide bomber. The second incident took place in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif, where a bomb was affixed to a bicycle that exploded near a mosque shortly after the Kabul blast. The suicide blast in Kabul resulted in the deaths of more than 70 civilians, which included women and children, while the Mazar-i-Sharif blast claimed at least 4 lives.
