Abel Ubeku
Chief Dr. Abel Kprogidi Ubeku (February 24th 1936 - March 9th 2014) was a Nigerian business executive who was a presidential aspirant during the Social Democratic Party primary in 1992, a member of the Committee for National Consensus (CNC) during the Abacha transition program and also former Guinness Nigeria Managing Director. Personal life Ubeku hailed from Araya, in the Isoko community of Delta State. He was educated at University of London finishing with a Master of Laws degree in 1971, he obtained a PhD from University of Sussex and his thesis published in 1983 was titled ''Industrial Relations in Developing Countries: The Case of Nigeria''. Social Democratic Party (Nigeria)
The Social Democratic Party of Nigeria (SDP) is a centre-left political party in Nigeria. It was created alongside the National Republican Convention by former military president Ibrahim Babangida, as part of a democracy project meant to form two detribalized political parties – one slightly to the left and one to the right. During the Nigerian Third Republic it was seen as a moderate party attractive to young radical intellectuals and socialists. In its manifesto, it called for concerted efforts to improve welfare and fight for social justice. Structure After 13 prospective parties were banned by the administration of Ibrahim Babangida in 1989, some of the associations decided to re-align. Sani Abacha (20 September 1943 – 8 June 1998) was a Nigerian military officer and politician who ruled as the military head of state of Nigeria from 1993 until his death in 1998. He seized power on 17 November 1993 in the last successful coup d'etat in the military history of Nigeria.
