Abba Cohen
Abba Cohen (born 1955 or 1956) is an American rabbi who serves as Vice President for Government Affairs and Washington Office director of Agudath Israel of America. He acts as an advocate for the Orthodox Jewish community in Washington, D.C., and has worked with seven presidential administrations and 19 Congresses. Biography Cohen attended Johns Hopkins University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree, the Columbia University School of International Affairs, where he received his graduate degree of Master of International Affairs, and Georgetown University Law Center, where he received his Juris Doctor. He also received a Bachelor of Talmudic Law and rabbinic ordination from the Ner Israel Rabbinical College. Agudath Israel Of America
Agudath Israel of America (; also called the Agudah) is an American organization that represents Haredi Judaism, Haredi Orthodox Jews. It is loosely affiliated with the international World Agudath Israel. Agudah seeks to meet the needs of the Haredi community, advocates for its religious and civil rights, and services its constituents through charitable, educational, and social service projects across North America. Functions Agudah serves as a leadership and policy umbrella organization for Haredi Jews in the United States, representing the vast majority of members of the yeshiva world, sometimes known by the old label of ''misnagdim'', as well as a large number of Hasidic Judaism, Hasidic groups. Moshe Sherer
Rabbi Moshe Sherer (June 18, 1921 – May 17, 1998) was co-Chairman of the Agudath Israel World Organization from 1980, and the Chairman of Agudath Israel of America from the 1960s, until his death in 1998. Early life Sherer was born in Brooklyn on June 8, 1921. His early education was at Yeshiva Torah Vodaas, followed by studying at Baltimore, Maryland-based Yeshivas Ner Yisroel. ''The New York Times'' wrote that "He told associates that his main mentor was the late Rabbi Aharon Kotler." Career Sherer "joined Agudath Israel as its executive vice president in 1941, when it was a small group with few employees," and added the title of president in 1963.
