Aba County
Ngawa County (, zh, s=阿坝县 , p=Ābà Xiàn), or Aba or Ngaba, is a county in the northwest of Sichuan Province, China. It is under the administration of the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. It is located in the remote northwestern part of the prefecture, on the border with Qinghai (to the northwest) and Gansu (to the north). The county seat is Ngawa Town. Governance The primary law enforcement agency in Ngawa county is the Aba County public security bureau. The People's Armed Police Aba County Company is in charge of paramilitary law enforcement and disaster relief duties. Firefighting and rescue duties are provided by the Aba County Fire and Rescue Battalion. Wylie Transliteration
Wylie transliteration is a method for Transliteration, transliterating Tibetan script using only the letters available on a typical English-language typewriter. The system is named for the American scholar Turrell V. Wylie, who created the system and published it in a 1959 ''Harvard Journal of Asiatic Studies'' article. It has subsequently become a standard transliteration scheme in Tibetan studies, especially in the United States. Tibetan Script
The Tibetan script is a segmental writing system, or '' abugida'', forming a part of the Brahmic scripts, and used to write certain Tibetic languages, including Tibetan, Dzongkha, Sikkimese, Ladakhi, Jirel and Balti. Its exact origins are a subject of research but is traditionally considered to be developed by Thonmi Sambhota for King Songtsen Gampo. The printed form is called uchen script while the hand-written form used in everyday writing is called umê script. This writing system is especially used across the Himalayan Region. Kirti Gompa
Kirti Gompa (), is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery founded in 1472 and located in Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Ngawa, Sichuan province, in China, but traditionally part of Amdo region. Numerous other associated Kirti monasteries and nunneries are located nearby. As of March 2011, the Kirti Gompa was said to house 2,500 monks.
