ATN Star Plus
ATN Star Plus is a Canadian Category A specialty channel, owned by Asian Television Network (ATN). It is the flagship channel of the Asian Television Network and features programming from StarPlus as well as Canadian content in several South Asian languages. History On September 4, 1996, South Asian Television Canada Limited was granted approval from the CRTC to launch an ethnic specialty television channel called ''SATV'', a regional service catering to the South Asian community in Ontario. On August 7, 1997, South Asian Television Canada Limited received approval to convert SATV into a national service, available across Canada. In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. It was launched on 1 October 1992 as the oldest privately owned television channel in India. History In 1991, Li Ka-shing started his STAR satellite television network. At the end of the year, Subhash Chandra of the Essel Group finished a round of negotiations with HutchVision, after a series of rejections, and the condition that Chandra would pay US$5 million a year for the satellite transponder.
