Delavan is a city in Walworth County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 8,505 at the 2020 census. It is located southwest of Milwaukee. The city is located partially within the Delavan (town), Wisconsin, Town of Delavan, but the two entities are politically independent. Delavan is home to Delavan Lake which brings in a large number of tourists each year, and is also close to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Lake Geneva, another popular tourist destination. History Origins Delavan sits in the middle of what was once an inland sea. During the last glacial maximum, last ice age, the final glaciation, named the Michigan tongue, covered this region. Queen Anne style architecture was one of a number of popular Victorian architecture, Victorian architectural styles that emerged in the United States during the period from roughly 1880 to 1910. It is sometimes grouped as New World Queen Anne Revival architecture. Popular there during this time, it followed the Second Empire architecture in the United States and Canada, Second Empire and Stick style, Stick styles and preceded the Richardsonian Romanesque and Shingle style architecture, Shingle styles.
