''77 Boa Drum'' is a live album by Japanese experimental music group Boredoms, recorded on July 7, 2007, at the Brooklyn Bridge Park#Empire–Fulton Ferry, Empire–Fulton Ferry section of Brooklyn Bridge Park in Brooklyn, New York. It was released on two CDs, plus a 20-minute all-region NTSC DVD documenting the performance, mounted in a large hardcover book with photos and full credits. In Japan the package sells for 7,777 yen (including sales tax), about US$70. The concert featured the core Boredoms lineup of Yamantaka Eye, Yamataka Eye on electronics, vocals and Sevena (a custom-made instrument that, at the performance, was a vertically mounted array of seven electric lap steel guitars played with sticks); Yoshimi P-We; Yojiro Tatekawa; and Muneomi Senju. Boredoms () (later known as V∞redoms) is a rock band from Osaka, Japan formed in 1986. The band's sound is often referred to as noise rock, or sometimes Japanoise (Japan's noise music scene), though their more recent records have moved toward repetitive psychedelic rock, ambient soundscapes, and tribal drumming. The band has a vast discography. Many band members have rotated through the group over the years, often using a number of various stage names. Gang Gang Dance is an American band based in Manhattan, New York City. Tall Firs are an American, New York City based underground electric folk rock band, originally formed in 1990 by teenagers Dave Mies and Aaron Mullan in Annapolis, Maryland. Their album, ''Tall Firs'', was completed and released sixteen years later in 2006 on the independent music label Ecstatic Peace!. Tall Firs grew out of an over-the-phone collaboration between Mies and Mullan, school friends who lived too far apart to walk to one another's houses. Oneida (band)
Oneida is an American experimental rock band from Brooklyn, New York, United States. Their influences include psychedelic rock, krautrock, electronic, noise rock, and minimalism, but the overall structure and intent of their music is not taken directly from any of these styles. Common elements found in their music include improvisation, repetition, driving rhythms, antique and analog equipment, and an overall eclecticism. The No-Neck Blues Band, also known as NNCK, is a seven-member free-form improvisational musical collective from New York City. Formed in 1992, the original band was of eight members (until John Fell Ryan left to join noise group, Excepter), and has practiced weekly in a space in Harlem since. Man Man is an American experimental rock band from Philadelphia currently based in Los Angeles. Lead singer, songwriter, and lyricist Honus Honus (Ryan Kattner) is accompanied by a group of multi-instrumentalist musicians and vocalists. History Man Man released their debut, '' The Man in a Blue Turban with a Face'', in October 2004 on Ace Fu Records, but did not begin to tour extensively until the 2006 release of their second album, '' Six Demon Bag''. Volcano the Bear are an improvisational/experimental English band formed in Leicester in 1995. Hisham Akira Bharoocha (born March 12, 1976 in Niigata, Japan) is an American musician and visual artist. Bharoocha lives in Brooklyn, performs as Yokubari, and is a member of the band Kill Alters; he is also a former member of the Providence bands Lightning Bolt and Black Dice. Early life and education Bharoocha was born in Niigata, Japan, to a Japanese mother and Burmese Indian Gujarati father. The family moved to Tokyo and then to Toronto when he was two, and Bharoocha spent his elementary school years in Los Angeles and San Diego. His father died of cancer when he was 10 years old; as an adult, memories of the experience inspired the 24-foot mural and sound installation Bharoocha created for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Brooklyn.
