The 70th Annual Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony were held over two nights on September 8 and September 9, 2018. The nominations were announced on July 12, 2018. The ceremony was in conjunction with the annual Primetime Emmy Awards and is presented in recognition of technical and other similar achievements in American television programming, including guest acting roles. The Creative Arts Emmys are a class of Emmy Awards presented in recognition of technical and other similar achievements in American television programming. They are commonly awarded to behind-the-scenes personnel such as production designers, set decorators, video editors, costume designers, cinematographers, casting directors, and sound editors. The Creative Arts category also includes awards for outstanding animated programs, commercials, and guest actors. Both the Primetime and Daytime awards each present their Creative Arts Emmys at separate Creative Arts ceremonies on the weekend before their respective main ceremonies. ''Flint'' is a 2017 television drama film based on the Flint water crisis in Flint, Michigan. Directed by Bruce Beresford, it premiered on Lifetime on October 28, 2017. The film stars Queen Latifah, Betsy Brandt, Jill Scott, and Marin Ireland. The film or its cast have been nominated for three Image Awards, a Critics' Choice Television Award and a Primetime Emmy Award. Production In January 2017, the singer and actress Cher announced plans to produce and star in a film about a fictional Flint woman dealing with the water crisis and how it affects her family. Cher dropped out of the project in March, citing a "serious family issue" as the cause. Queen Latifah and Jill Scott were later cast in the film. Latifah's production company Flavor Unit Entertainment and her partner Shakim Compere also produced the film. Lyndie Greenwood later joined the cast. This is a list of the winners of the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Made for Television Movie, which is awarded since 1992. The category was originally called Outstanding Drama or Comedy Special. In 1991, Outstanding Drama or Comedy Special category was merged with Outstanding Miniseries category to form Outstanding Drama or Comedy Special and Miniseries and the number of nominations increased from five to six. For this year, two miniseries had competed with four "made for television movies". They are documented in anticipation of an intervention meeting by family or friends.
