5FM
5FM is a South African FM radio station that follows a Top 40 music format and is owned by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), South Africa's public broadcaster. SABC announced the appointment of Mr. JD Mostert as Business Manager of 5FM, as well as Good Hope FM, otherwise known as the PCS Combo (5FM and Good Hope FM) on March 11, 2021. Origin and history Formerly known as "Radio 5", the station developed from a commercial station, LM Radio, which had been operating from Lourenço Marques (now Maputo) in neighbouring Mozambique. Radio 5 first went on the air on 13 October 1975 after Mozambique gained its independence. The station began broadcasting in the medium wave band from transmitters at Welgedacht, Maraisburg, Pietersburg, Durban, Bloemfontein, Brackenfell, Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown. Thando Thabethe (born 18 June 1990) is a South African actress, and Radio DJ who was the presenter for the television show ''Thando Bares All'' on channel TLC and current drive time host on 947. She is Nivea's first brand ambassador in Africa. In 2019, Thando was named one of ''Forbes'' Africa's 30 Under 30. She is also the host of 947 Drive With Thando. Gareth Rhydal Cliff (born 26 August 1977) is a South African radio and television personality. He began his professional radio career at 702, and later became the host of the breakfast show on 5FM. John Berks
John Berks (born John Berkowitz; 24 August 1941 – 4 June 2022) was a well-known South African radio presenter. Known for his role as a breakfast presenter on Radio 702 in Johannesburg. His broadcast career covered many countries in Southern Africa and stretched from 1964 until 2001. Early life Berks was born in Krugersdorp to Jewish parents Louis Berkowitz and Hennie Nochimowitz. DJ Fresh (South African DJ)
Thato Sikwane (born 15 October 1972), better known by his stage name DJ Fresh, is a Motswana disk jockey, producer and entrepreneur based in South Africa. He is most well-known for his career on 5FM and Metro FM. Sikwane previously worked for YFM in Johannesburg, South Africa. Roger Goode
Roger Goode is a South African DJ. Biography Goode rose to local fame for his first single "In The Beginning", which featured on 5FM's Top 40. This led to him signing with a local dance record label, SheerDance, under which he released his first album, ''Coming Up for Air'' in 2001. Mark Pilgrim (born 20 September 1969) is a South African media personality who has hosted numerous radio and television shows, most notably as a DJ on 5FM, 94.7 Highveld Stereo, 94.5 Kfm, Hot919 and currently Hot102.7fm. On television, he hosted both seasons of Big Brother South Africa, the first season of ''Big Brother Africa'' and the MNET game show ''Power of 10''. Springbok Radio
Springbok Radio (spelled ''Springbokradio'' in Afrikaans, ) was a South African nationwide radio station that operated from 1950 to 1986. History SABC's decision in December 1945 to develop a commercial service was constrained by post-war financial issues. After almost five years of investigation and after consulting Lord Reith of the BBC and the South African government, it decided to introduce commercial radio to supplement the SABC's public service English and Afrikaans networks and help solve the SABC's financial problems. LM Radio
LM Radio is a radio station based in Maputo, Mozambique. Historically it was a shortwave station broadcasting to South Africa and Rhodesia from Lourenço Marques, the colonial era name of Maputo, hence the name "Lourenço Marques Radio" from 1936 to 1975 when it was shut down by the government of the then newly independent country.
