29th Infantry Brigade (United States)
The 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team is an Brigade Combat Team (United States)#Infantry brigade combat team, infantry brigade combat team of the United States Army National Guard of Hawaii. It traces its origins to the 29th Infantry Brigade (Separate) originally formed in the Hawaii Army National Guard in 1959. The current name and Table of Organisation and Equipment, adopting the new "Brigade Combat Team" structure, was adopted in 2006. History The 29th Infantry Brigade headquarters was converted and redesignated from the 120th Signal Support Company on 15 January 1959 at Fort Ruger. A separate brigade, the 29th replaced the 299th Cavalry Regiment (United States), 299th Regimental Combat Team under the Pentomic reorganization as the major unit of the Hawaii Army National Guard. Kapaa (Kauai dialect: Tapaa) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Kauai County, Hawaii, United States. It is the most populous town in the island of Kauai, with a population of 11,652 as of the 2020 census, up from 9,471 at the 2000 census. ''Kapaa'' is a Hawaiian adjective meaning "solid". Platoon
A platoon is a military unit typically composed of two or more squads, sections, or patrols. Platoon organization varies depending on the country and the branch, but a platoon can be composed of 50 people, although specific platoons may range from 10 to 100 people. Hilo
Hilo () is a census-designated place (CDP) and the largest settlement in Hawaii County, Hawaii, United States, which encompasses the Island of Hawaii. Wahiawa
Wahiawa ( haw, Wahiawā, ) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Honolulu County, Hawaii, United States, on the island of Oahu. It is in the Wahiawa District, on the plateau or "central valley" between the two volcanic mountains that comprise the island. In Hawaiian, ''wahi a wā'' means "place of the wa people". The population was 18,658 at the 2020 census. Lakes and reservoirs are rare in Hawaii, and Wahiawa is unique in being surrounded on three sides by Lake Wilson (also known as Wahiawa Reservoir or Kaukonahua). Keaau
Keaau (also written as Keaau) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hawaii County, Hawaii. located in the District of Puna. The population was 1,195 at the time of the 2020 census. The population decreased by 12.1% from 2,253 at the time of the 2010 census. History Keaau was called ‘Ōla‘a and in 1899, the Olaa Sugar Company leased about 4,000 acres of land, for growing sugarcane. A pearl is a hard, glistening object produced within the soft tissue (specifically the mantle) of a living shelled mollusk or another animal, such as fossil conulariids. Naval Air Station Barbers Point , on O'ahu, also called John Rodgers (naval officer, World War I), John Rodgers Field (the original name of Honolulu International Airport), is a former United States Navy airfield closed in 1999, and renamed Kalaeloa Airport. Parts of the former air station serve as a Film studio, film and television studio for the Hawaii State Film Office. Kalaeloa
Kalaeloa () is a census-designated place (CDP) in Honolulu County, Hawaii, United States. The population was 2,364 at the 2020 census. The community occupies the location of the former Naval Air Station Barbers Point, which was closed in 1999 and subsequently transferred to the State of Hawaii. The geographical name, ''Ka lae loa'', means "long point" in Hawaiian and is the native name for what has been called Barbers Point on Oahu. The area was known as Barbers Point because Captain Henry Barber wrecked his ship on a coral shoal at this location on October 31, 1796.
