Shrine Auditorium
The Shrine Auditorium is a landmark large-event venue in Los Angeles, California. It is also the headquarters of the Al Malaikah Temple, a division of the Shriners. It was designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument (No. 139) in 1975, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. History Opened in 1926, the current Shrine Auditorium replaced an earlier 1906 Al Malaikah Temple which had been destroyed by a fire on January 11, 1920. The fire gutted the structure in just 30 minutes, and nearly killed six firefighters in the process. In the late 1960s, the Shrine was referred to as "The Pinnacle" by the audiences of rock concerts. Rick Chertoff
Richard E. Chertoff (born March 29, 1950 in New York, NY) is an American five-time Grammy-nominated producer responsible for such hits as Joan Osborne's " One of Us", Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and " Time After Time" and Sophie B. Hawkins' "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover". Both Cyndi Lauper's album '' She's So Unusual'' and Joan Osborne's album ''Relish'' were debut albums that garnered multi-platinum sales and multiple Grammy nominations. She's So Unusual
''She's So Unusual'' is the debut studio album by American singer and songwriter Cyndi Lauper, released on October 14, 1983, by Portrait Records. The album was re-released in 2014 to commemorate its 30th anniversary, and was called ''She's So Unusual: A 30th Anniversary Celebration''. The re-release contains demos and remixes of previously released material, as well as new artwork. In 1978, Lauper formed the band Blue Angel. The band soon signed a recording contract with Polydor Records; however, their debut album, '' Blue Angel'', was a commercial failure. The band parted ways after firing their manager, who sued Lauper for $80,000 and forced her into bankruptcy. Lauper went on to sing in many New York night clubs, and caught the eye of David Wolf, who became her manager and subsequently got her signed to Portrait Records. James Anthony Carmichael
James Anthony Carmichael (born September 14, 1941) is an American Grammy-winning musician, arranger, and record producer. At first he started off in Los Angeles as an arranger and producer for Motown acts like The Temptations and the Jackson 5. Carmichael went on to attain fame in arranging and producing artists such as the Commodores, Atlantic Starr, Diana Ross and Lionel Richie. Biography Carmichael grew up in Gadsden, Alabama, and learned piano as a child. He played tuba in the Carver High School band, and graduated from there in 1959. ''Can't Slow Down'' is the second solo studio album by American recording artist Lionel Richie. It was released on October 11, 1983, by Motown Records. It has sold over 20 million copies, and is Richie's best-selling album of all time. Five singles were released from ''Can't Slow Down'', all of which hit the top ten of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart, including two that reached No. 1: "All Night Long (All Night)" and "Hello". Charles Richard Plotkin (born September 8, 1942) is a recording engineer and producer, best known for his work with Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. Recording engineer Plotkin has recorded, engineered, mastered and produced albums by Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, and many other artists, starting with The Floating House Band in 1972.
