2022 NHL Heritage Classic
The 2022 NHL Heritage Classic (branded as the 2022 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic for sponsorship reasons) is an outdoor regular season National Hockey League (NHL) game. The game, the sixth Heritage Classic, will be held on March 13, 2022, between the Buffalo Sabres and the Toronto Maple Leafs at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario. Background The league announced the game on September 16, 2021. Hamilton, Ontario, was chosen due to its location in the Golden Horseshoe midway between Buffalo and Toronto. This will be Toronto's first Heritage Classic appearance, and Buffalo will become the first U.S. team to both compete in and host a Heritage Classic. 2021–22 Toronto Maple Leafs Season
The 2021–22 Toronto Maple Leafs season was the 105th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on November 22, 1917. On April 9, 2022, the Maple Leafs clinched a playoff spot with a 3–2 win against the Montreal Canadiens. With a 4–2 win over the New York Islanders on April 17, the Maple Leafs set franchise records in both wins (50) and points (106). The ''NHL on TNT'' is an American presentation of National Hockey League (NHL) games produced by Warner Bros. Discovery Sports (formerly known as Turner Sports), and televised on TNT in the United States. 2021–22 NHL Season
The 2021–22 NHL season was the 105th season of operation (104th season of play) of the National Hockey League (NHL). The league expanded to 32 teams with the addition of the Seattle Kraken. The league had an October-to-April regular season scheduling and a full 82-game regular season for the first time since the 2018–19 NHL season as the previous two NHL seasons were shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The season began on October 12. On December 22, all games were suspended league-wide through at least December 26 (officially termed as an extension of the regularly scheduled Christmas break), in order to reconcile COVID-19 outbreaks that had impacted a large number of teams and resulted in various game postponements. The ''NHL on ABC'' is an American presentation of National Hockey League (NHL) games produced by ESPN on ABC (formerly known as ABC Sports), and televised on ABC in the United States. The network first broadcast NHL games during the 1993 Stanley Cup playoffs on April 18, 1993, under a two-year time-buy agreement with ESPN. After the two years, the NHL left ABC for newcomer Fox, while remaining with ESPN.
