2021 World Women's Handball Championship
The 2021 IHF World Women's Handball Championship, the 25th event by the International Handball Federation, was held in Spain from 1 to 19 December 2021. On 18 October 2018, at a congress in Doha, Qatar, the IHF announced that the World Championship would be expanded from 24 teams to 32 teams from 2021 onwards. The Netherlands were the defending champions after winning for the first time in 2019. However, they finished third in their main round group and failed to qualify for the quarterfinals. Norway defeated France to win their fourth title. Denmark captured the bronze medal by winning against Spain. Bidding process Spain and Hungary bid for the right to organise the 2021 Women's World Handball Championship. The International Handball Federation decided that the voting process would take place during the 2017 World Men's Handball Championship. Nathalie Mari Hagman (born 19 July 1991) is a Swedish handball player for SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea and the Swedish national handball team. She played her first match for Sweden in 2009 at the age of 17. Pavelló Barris Nord (Catalan for ''Northern Neighborhood Pavilion'') is an arena in Lleida, Catalonia, Spain. It is primarily used for basketball games and the home arena of Força Lleida CE. History The construction of the Pavelló Barris Nord began on 1 June 2001, after the promotion of CE Lleida Bàsquet to Liga ACB, with the aim to give to the club an arena that fulfills the requirements to play in the league. Built in four months, it was opened on 4 October 2001. From an initial capacity of 5,500 people, after being expanded in summer of 2003, its new capacity is of 6,100 seats. Veszprém Aréna is an indoor sports and events hall in Veszprém, Hungary, known for its enthralling atmosphere. It is the home ground of the top-class handball club Telekom Veszprém KC, that regularly host the best teams of Europe.
