The 2021 MercedesCup was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts. It was the 43rd edition of the Stuttgart Open, and part of the ATP Tour 250 series of the 2021 ATP Tour. ATP Tour 250
The ATP 250 tournaments (previously known as the ''ATP World Tour 250'' tournaments, ''ATP International Series'', and ''ATP World Series'') are the lowest tier of annual men's tennis tournaments on the main ATP Tour, after the four Grand Slam tournaments, ATP Finals, ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, and ATP 500 tournaments. As of 2020, the series includes 39 tournaments, with 250 ranking points awarded to each singles champion—which accounts for the name of the series. Nikoloz Basilashvili
Nikoloz Basilashvili ( ka, ნიკოლოზ ბასილაშვილი, tr, ; born 23 February 1992) is a Georgian professional tennis player. He reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 16 on 27 May 2019. In July 2018, he made it into the main draw of the German Open in Hamburg as a qualifier and went on to win the tournament, defeating Leonardo Mayer in the final, thereby becoming the first Georgian player since Alex Metreveli to win an ATP tournament. In October 2018, Basilashvili won his second ATP title at the China Open by defeating world No. 4 Juan Martín del Potro in the final. Peter Gojowczyk ( ; born 15 July 1989) is a German professional tennis player. He achieved a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 39 in June 2018. James Duckworth (tennis)
James Duckworth (born 21 January 1992) is an Australian professional tennis player. He has a career-high Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) singles ranking of World No. 47 achieved on 8 November 2021 and No. 185 in doubles achieved on 10 February 2020. As a junior, Duckworth enjoyed a successful career which included winning three titles and reaching the semi-finals of the 2010 French Open.
