2021 CFL Season
The 2021 CFL season was the 67th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it was the 63rd season of the Canadian Football League. The regular season began on August 5, 2021, and ended November 20, 2021. Each team played 14 regular season games over 16 weeks. Previously, the season was scheduled to begin on June 10, 2021, and end on October 30, 2021, with 18 games being played per team over 21 weeks, but this was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. Hamilton hosted the 108th Grey Cup on December 12, 2021. Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are a professional Canadian football team based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They are currently members of the East Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The Tiger-Cats play their home games at Tim Hortons Field. In 1950, the Tigers merged with cross-town upstart Hamilton Wildcats and adopted the name "Tiger-Cats". Since the 1950 merger, the team has won the Grey Cup championship eight times, most recently in 1999. 2020 CFL Draft
The 2020 CFL Draft took place on April 30, 2020 at 8:00 pm ET and was broadcast on TSN and RDS.. 73 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA. This was the second year in a row that featured territorial picks after they were re-introduced in the 2019 CFL Draft. The draft was broadcast live on TSN for two hours and then subsequent coverage shifted to digital platforms on CFL.ca. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, every commentator broadcast from remote locations as opposed to in-studio. The 2019 CFL season was the 66th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it was the 62nd Canadian Football League season. XFL (2020)
The XFL is a professional American football minor league consisting of eight teams located across the United States in mid-sized to major markets served by at least one other major professional sports team. Seasons run from February to April, with each team playing a ten-game regular season, and four progressing to the playoffs to crown a season champion. It is headquartered in Arlington, Texas. The league was founded by former WWE executive Vince McMahon in 2018, as a reboot and successor to the XFL (2001), league of the same name he founded in 2001. Forfeit (sport)
In various sports, a forfeit is a method in which a match automatically ends, and the forfeiting team loses. There are two distinct forms of forfeiture. One occurs when a team is unable (or refuses) to meet the basic standards for playing the game, either before the game begins or as a result of actions that happen during the match. In such a case, the team not forfeiting wins the match. The Canadian Football League (CFL) has played numerous neutral site games in its history – i.e. games outside of both teams' home cities. Several CFL games have been staged in the United States – the earliest was in 1909, and the most recent was in 1995 during the league's short-lived US expansion. In the 2005 preseason, and regular seasons of 2010, 2011 and 2013, games in Atlantic Canada were billed as Touchdown Atlantic. East Division (CFL)
The East Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League, its counterpart being the West Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the East Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The four teams in the division are the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes, and Ottawa Redblacks. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional Canadian football team based in Regina, Saskatchewan.
