2020 Tirreno–Adriatico
The 2020 Tirreno–Adriatico was a road bicycle racing, road cycling cycling stage race, stage race that was originally scheduled to take place between 11 and 17 March 2020 in Italy. On 6 March 2020, it was postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic in Italy, COVID-19 concerns in Italy and rescheduled to 7 to 14 September. It was the 55th edition of Tirreno–Adriatico and part of the 2020 UCI World Tour. Teams All nineteen UCI WorldTeams and six wildcard UCI Professional Continental, UCI ProTeams made up the twenty-four teams that participated in the race. Each team entered seven riders, making up a starting peloton of 175 riders. Of these riders, 152 finished the race. 2020 UCI World Tour
The 2020 UCI World Tour was a series of races that was scheduled to include thirty-six road cycling events throughout the 2020 cycling season. However, some of races were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour started with the opening stage of the Tour Down Under on 21 January, and concluded with the final stage of the Vuelta a España on 8 November. Events The 2020 calendar was initially announced in June 2019. In October 2019, the calendar was officially presented by the UCI. There were two races fewer in the original schedule than in the 2019 UCI World Tour: *The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey was downgraded to the UCI ProSeries for 2020 due to lack of participation of UCI World Tour teams in 2018 and 2019. *The Tour of California was not held in 2020 after being placed on hiatus. Norcia
Norcia (), traditionally known in English by its Latin name of Nursia (), is a town and comune in the province of Perugia (Italy) in southeastern Umbria. Unlike many ancient towns, it is located in a wide plain abutting the Monti Sibillini, a subrange of the Apennines with some of its highest peaks, near the Sordo River, a small stream that eventually flows into the Nera. Stage 5
Stage 5 (or, originally, "Stage V") is an unofficial stage at the Walnut Valley Festival, an annual bluegrass festival in Winfield, Kansas, United States. Set up in the Pecan Grove campground, the informal stage began in 1987 when camper Russell Brace and friends built it on the back of a 1954 Chevrolet 4100 1-1/2 ton flatbed truck. The stage is so-named because the festival proper has four main stages. The stage was immediately popular and is now a cherished tradition at the annual event. Audiences at Stage 5 can usually expect to hear typical acoustic string instruments. However, many musicians, while there, part from traditional bluegrass styles and emphasize a looser, more rock-oriented interpretation of roots music. Several notables have played Stage 5. Lucas Hamilton
Lucas Hamilton (born 12 February 1996) is an Australian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Hamilton qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and rode in the Men's Road Race. The men's road racers had a tough time in the conditions and he finished 71st. Early years Hamilton began cycling as a 12-years-old with the Ararat, Victoria, Ararat and Districts Cycling Club in Victoria (Australia), Victoria. He performed so well that he was given a Victorian Institute of Sport scholarship in 2014. Hamilton gained his first national team selection at the age of 20, in 2016. He raced in the U19 World Road Race Championship and then went onto win the Mountains Classification at the 2016 Tour de l'Avenir. Cascia
Cascia () is a town and ''comune'' (municipality) of the Italian province of Perugia in a rather remote area of the mountainous southeastern corner of Umbria. It is about 21 km from Norcia on the road to Rieti in the Lazio (63 km). It is also very close to Terni. Michael Woods (cyclist)
Michael Russell Woods (born 12 October 1986) is a Canadian racing cyclist, who rides for UCI WorldTeam and is the first person to break four minutes in the mile and complete the Tour de France. Career Athletics career Woods' first sport was ice hockey and his childhood ambition was to play as a left wing for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Prior to becoming a cyclist, Woods was a promising middle-distance runner, setting Canadian national junior records in the mile and 3000 metres in 2005, as well as taking the gold medal in the 1500 metres at the 2005 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships. However, he suffered a recurring stress fracture in his left foot, exacerbated by excessive training and racing, resulting in his running his last race in 2007.
