2019 Milan–San Remo
The 2019 Milan–San Remo was the 110th edition of the Milan–San Remo one-day Italian road cycling race that took place on 23 March 2019. It was the eighth event of the 2019 UCI World Tour, and was the first Monument of the year. 2019 UCI World Tour
The 2019 UCI World Tour was a series of races that included thirty-eight road bicycle racing, road cycling events throughout the 2019 in men's road cycling, 2019 men's cycling season. It was the first time since the World Tour was launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2009 that it was not a ranking competition in its own right. The tour started with the opening stage of the 2019 Tour Down Under, Tour Down Under on 15 January and concluded with the final stage of the 2019 Tour of Guangxi, Tour of Guangxi on 22 October. Events The 2019 calendar was initially announced in June 2018, with the Abu Dhabi Tour being replaced with the UAE Tour, following its merger with the Dubai Tour. Peter Sagan (; born 26 January 1990) is a Slovak professional road bicycle racer who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . Matteo Trentin (born 2 August 1989) is an Italian professional road cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Professional career In 2014, Trentin took a prestigious victory on Stage 7 of the Tour de France, where he won the sprint by a few centimeters over Peter Sagan. Trentin had also won a stage of the same race on his maiden Tour start in 2013, winning in a sprint in Lyon against his breakaway counterparts. In October 2015, Trentin won Paris–Tours in record time for a race over 200 km, thus becoming the new ''Ruban Jaune''. Simon Clarke (born 18 July 1986) is an Australian professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He previously rode for the (2011) and (2012–2015) teams in the UCI World Tour. Before turning professional, Clarke competed in track cycling as an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. He is not related to fellow Australian cyclist and past teammate Will Clarke. The Monuments are five classic cycle races generally considered to be the oldest, hardest and most prestigious one-day events in men's road cycling.
