2018–19 Kansas Jayhawks Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team represented the University of Kansas in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, which was the Jayhawks' 121st basketball season. The Jayhawks, members of the Big 12 Conference, played their home games at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas. They were led by 16th year Hall of Fame head coach Bill Self. Season notes The Jayhawks entered the season with high expectations due to returning All-Big 12 players Udoka Azubuike and LaGerald Vick, adding three 2018 McDonald's All-Americans, and several transfers coming off their redshirt years. Following the 2017–18 season, several sports websites ranked Kansas 1st on their "Way too early rankings" which preview the next season. Bill Self
Billy Eugene Self Jr. (born December 27, 1962) is an American basketball coach. He is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Kansas, a position he has held since 2003. During his 19 seasons as head coach, he has led the Jayhawks to 16 Big 12 regular season championships, including an NCAA record 14 consecutive Big 12 regular season championships, some of which were shared (2005–2018). He has also led the Jayhawks to four NCAA Final Four appearances (2008, 2012, 2018, 2022), the 2008 NCAA championship and 2022 NCAA championship. Self was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017. At the end of the 2021–22 season, Self had the 18th most wins among Division I coaches in NCAA history and 4th among active head coaches. Sviatoslav "Svi" Yuriyovych Mykhailiuk ( uk, Святосла́в Ю́рійович Михайлю́к, ; born June 10, 1997) is a Ukrainian professional basketball player for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected with the 47th overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. Mykhailiuk played college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks. Ochai Young Agbaji (born April 20, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). As a senior at the University of Kansas, Agbaji was named a consensus first-team All-American and voted the Big 12 Player of the Year in 2022. David Joseph McCormack (born July 2, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for Galatasaray S.K. (men's basketball), Galatasaray Ekmas of the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) and the Basketball Champions League (BCL).
