2017 FIA R-GT Cup
The 2017 FIA R-GT Cup was the third edition of the FIA rally cup for GT cars in Group R-GT. The cup was contested over 5 tarmac rounds from the WRC, the ERC and the Rallye International du Valais. Thanks to the new Fiat 124 R-GT more drivers participated in the R-GT cup than in previous season. The overall winner was Romain Dumas driving a Porsche 997 GT3. Calendar The calendar for the 2017 season featured five tarmac rallies: two selected tarmac rounds from the WRC, two selected rounds from the ERC and the 58. Rallying
Rally is a wide-ranging form of motorsport with various competitive motoring elements such as speed tests (often called ''rally racing),'' navigation tests, or the ability to reach waypoints or a destination at a prescribed time or average speed. Rallies may be short in the form of trials at a single venue, or several thousand miles long in an extreme endurance rally. Depending on the format, rallies may be organised on private or public roads, open or closed to traffic, or off-road in the form of cross country or rally-raid. Hayden Paddon
Hayden Paddon (born 20 April 1987) is a New Zealand rally driver. He was PWRC world champion in 2011 and won the New Zealand Rally Championship in 2008, 2009, 2013, 2018 and 2021. Career Paddon was introduced into motorsport at an early age, his father Chris being a rally driver, beginning his career competing in karting. He competed in his first rally in 2002, at the age of 15. In 2005, he rolled and burnt his car in Rally Canterbury 2005. In 2006 he began competing in the New Zealand Rally Championship in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII, winning both the Junior and Rookie titles. In 2007 he made his World Rally Championship debut competing in the Production World Rally Championship category at his home event in New Zealand as a wildcard entry, and then in the Team Jordan entry for Rally GB. 2017 Monte Carlo Rally
The 2017 Monte Carlo Rally (formally known as the 85ème Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo) is a motor racing event for rally cars that was held over four days between 19 and 22 January 2017. It marks the eighty-fifth running of the Monte Carlo Rally, and is the first round of the 2017 World Rally Championship, WRC-2 and WRC-3 seasons. The rally will be the first round in which 2017-specification World Rally Cars compete, and will see the return of Toyota and Citroën to the championship, with the Toyota Yaris WRC and Citroën C3 WRC respectively. Report Hayden Paddon withdrew from the rally after a fatal accident involving a spectator on the opening stage. Paddon lost control after hitting a patch of black ice, which spun him into an embankment and rolled the car. The spectator was hit after Paddon initially lost control.
