2016–17 Districts One Day Tournament
The 2016–17 Districts One Day Tournament was a List A cricket competition that took place in Sri Lanka. It replaced the scheduled Premier Limited Overs Tournament, after a legal challenge from Negombo Cricket Club, after they were removed from Tier B of the 2016–17 Premier League Tournament. The challenge stopped the Premier Limited Overs Tournament from taking place, but Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) organised this tournament to replace it. The tournament started on 15 March 2017, with 24 teams split into eight groups of three, with the matches given List A status. Sri Lanka Cricket
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. It was first registered with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Sports (Sri Lanka), Ministry of Sports as the Board of Cricket for Sri Lanka (BCCSL) on 30 June 1975 as a national sports body. The board was renamed in 2003. The SLC operates all of the Sri Lankan national representative cricket sides, including the Sri Lanka national cricket team, Men's, Sri Lanka women's national cricket team, Women's and Sri Lanka national under-19 cricket team, Under-19 sides. The SLC is also responsible for organising and hosting Test cricket, Test tours and one day internationals with other nations, and scheduling the home international fixtures. Ruvindu Gunasekera
Ruvindu Gunasekera (born 20 July 1991) is a Sri Lankan-born cricketer who played One Day International cricket for Canada. Early life Gunasekara was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he began playing cricket at an early age, under the influence of his father, who was a player on the Sri Lanka A cricket team. Gunasekara immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 2006. He enrolled at the University of Toronto Scarborough in 2010, pursuing a degree in management. Career Sri Lanka Gunasekera was a member of the team for ICC Under 19 World Cup in New Zealand. In March 2018, he was the leading run-scorer in the 2017–18 SLC Twenty20 Tournament in Sri Lanka, with 272 runs in five matches, batting for Saracens Sports Club.
