The Vancouver Stealth are a lacrosse team based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The team plays in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The 2016 season was the 17th in franchise history and the third season in Vancouver. The franchise previously played in Everett, Washington, San Jose, and Albany, New York. National Lacrosse League
The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is a men's professional box lacrosse league in North America. The league is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The NLL currently has fifteen teams: ten in the United States and five in Canada. The NLL ranks third in average attendance for pro indoor sports worldwide, behind only the NHL and NBA. Unlike other box lacrosse leagues which play in the summer, the NLL plays its games in the winter and spring, from December to June. Each year, the playoff teams battle for the National Lacrosse League Cup. The NLL has averaged between 8,900 and 10,700 spectators per game each year since 2004. Box lacrosse rules The NLL plays four 15-minute quarters with 2-minute breaks between quarters and a 15-minute half-time. Rory Smith (lacrosse Player)
Rory Smith (born February 1, 1987) is a Canadian professional lacrosse player for the Vancouver Stealth of the National Lacrosse League and the Victoria Shamrocks of Western Lacrosse Association. Smith is known as an enforcer, and has racked up over 1,000 career penalty minutes during his amateur and professional career. His 104 penalty minutes with Orlando in 2010 is the record for most penalty minutes in a single season in NLL history. Smith began his amateur career with the Jr. B Mimico Mountaineers, and was named league MVP in 2006. He played for the Jr. A Brampton Excelsiors from 2007-08. He made his Sr. A debut in 2009 with the New Westminster Salmonbellies of the Western Lacrosse Association, and helped them to two Mann Cup appearances in 2009 and 2010. He moved back east in 2012 to play for the MSL Chiefs, with whom he won back-to-back Mann Cups in 2013 and 2014. National Lacrosse League Entry Draft
The National Lacrosse League entry draft is an annual event where the general managers of National Lacrosse League teams choose eligible players for their rosters from US college programs and Canada's junior lacrosse system. A player is deemed eligible for the draft if he is 21 years of age, or is less than 21 years of age and has used or given up all NCAA or NAIA eligibility. New England Black Wolves
The New England Black Wolves were a professional box lacrosse team based in Uncasville, Connecticut. They were members of the East Division of the National Lacrosse League and began play in the winter of 2014–2015 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville. The team was partially owned by the Mohegan Tribe of Indians of Connecticut, partially owned by Ted Goldthorpe, and partially owned by Brad Brewster. The Black Wolves relocated from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where they were known as the Philadelphia Wings from 1987 to 2014 and won 6 championships. Corey Small
Corey Small (born March 23, 1987 in St. Catharines, Ontario) is a Canadian lacrosse player who plays for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and formerly the Hamilton Nationals in Major League Lacrosse. High school career Small attended Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in St. Catharines. During his senior year at Holy Cross, he helped lead the Raiders to a provincial championship. Canadian Box career Junior Small played for the St. Catharines Athletics in the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League from to 2004 to 2008. In 2005, he won the Gaylord Powless Sportsmanship Award. During his 5 years for the Athletics, Small totaled up 127 goals and 278 points in just 102 games. He would also round up 40 goals and 77 points in 30 playoff games. Rhys W. Duch (born July 14, 1986, in Victoria, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional lacrosse player for the Calgary Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League. Curtis Hodgson
Curtis Hodgson (born August 12, 1981 in Burnaby, British Columbia) is a former professional indoor lacrosse, lacrosse defenseman for the Washington Stealth of the National Lacrosse League, where he won the National Lacrosse League Cup, Champions Cup. Hodgson earned a Bachelor's degree from Simon Fraser University where he played lacrosse for four seasons. He is currently a teacher at Burnaby Central Secondary School where he also serves as co-athletic director and teaches Social Studies and Physical Education. He won two Minto Cup Championships with the Burnaby Junior A Lakers in 2000 and 2002. The Langley Events Centre is a multipurpose facility in the Township of Langley, British Columbia, Canada. The LEC debuted in April 2009, hosting the 2009 BC Gymnastics Championships.
