16 (sixteen) is the natural number following 15 and preceding 17. 16 is a composite number, and a square number, being 42 = 4 × 4. It is the smallest number with exactly five divisors, its proper divisors being , , and . In English speech, the numbers 16 and 60 are sometimes confused, as they sound very similar. Sixteen is the fourth power of two. For this reason, 16 was used in weighing light objects in several cultures. The British have 16 ounces in one pound; the Chinese used to have 16 ''liangs'' in one ''jin''. In old days, weighing was done with a beam balance to make equal splits. It would be easier to split a heap of grains into sixteen equal parts through successive divisions than to split into ten parts. ''This Island'' is the third and final album by American dance-punk band Le Tigre. It was released by Universal Records on October 19, 2004. The album was the band's only one for a major label and reached number 130 on the ''Billboard'' 200. As of 2008, the album had sold 90,000 copies. Recording and production Following the conclusion of the ''Feminist Sweepstakes'' touring cycle in 2002, the band envisioned a different approach to their recording. They decided to remove studio deadlines, and instead of going to North Carolina to record material (because New York recording studios were too expensive), the band used their touring money to set up their own individual home studios with Pro Tools in Manhattan, New York, and were switching around hard drives of music while working on the record. The Indelicates
The Indelicates are a Sussex-based English indie rock band. Formed in 2005 by Julia and Simon Indelicate, the band's songs are known for their mix of dark, cynical lyrics and tuneful rock melodies. The Indelicates came to attention with their early demos, which were released for free on their website. The band signed to independent record label Sad Gnome Records in 2006 and released several singles and an EP. After leaving Sad Gnome in 2007, the band signed to another independent label, Weekender Records, which issued their first album, ''American Demo'', in 2008. After Weekender found itself in financial difficulty, the Indelicates asked to be released from their contract. In 2010, the band formed Corporate Records, through which artists could sell their own work on a pay-what-you-like basis and retain the bulk of the profits. ''Lust for Life'' is the second solo studio album by American musician Iggy Pop, released on September 9, 1977, through RCA Records. It was his second collaboration with English musician and friend David Bowie after '' The Idiot'', released in March the same year. Shortly after Bowie released his own album '' Low'' in January, Pop went on a tour to support ''The Idiot'' with Bowie as his keyboardist. At the tour's conclusion, Pop and Bowie regrouped in Berlin to record the former's next solo album. ''Lust for Life'' was recorded at Hansa Studio by the Wall in West Berlin from May to June 1977, with production being handled by Bowie, Pop, and engineer Colin Thurston. ''Welcome Home Armageddon'' is the fifth studio album by Welsh post-hardcore band Funeral for a Friend released on 14 March 2011 in the UK and 15 March 2011 in the US. It was also the last full length Funeral for a Friend album released featuring drummer/screamer Ryan Richards, who had been in the band since the Four Ways to Scream Your Name EP. Two songs on the album – "Sixteen" and "Damned If You Do, Dead If You Don't" – had previously appeared in the band's 2010 EP '' The Young & Defenceless''. ''The Young and Defenceless'' is an EP by Welsh post-hardcore band Funeral for a Friend, released on September 6, 2010. The title of the EP is sourced from a lyric in the track "Sixteen". This is the first release by Funeral for a Friend that includes bassist Richard Boucher and is also the first release to feature former bassist Gavin Burrough on guitars. The CD is limited edition, available only to those who bought it at PledgeMusic. In several European countries (not the UK), it is available for download from 7digital. On this release, the cover has been slightly changed. On October 29, 2010, the band released a music video for the song "Serpents in Solitude". ''Storm the Gates of Hell'' is the fourth studio album by Christian metal band Demon Hunter, released on November 6, 2007. It is the band's last album to feature Don Clark and Ethan Luck. Touring and promotion Demon Hunter embarked on the Stronger Than Hell Tour in promotion of the album. The summer tour began in May 2008 and included Living Sacrifice, Oh, Sleeper, The Famine, and Advent. ''Another Music in a Different Kitchen'' is the first studio album by the English punk rock band Buzzcocks. It was released in March 1978 by the United Artists record label. This was the third line-up of Buzzcocks, with the guitarist Pete Shelley singing following the departure of the original vocalist Howard Devoto and then the firing of the bass guitarist Garth Smith (who had appeared on the "Orgasm Addict"/"Whatever Happened To...?" single). ''39/Smooth'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Green Day, released on April 13, 1990, by Lookout Records. It was the band's only album to feature second drummer John Kiffmeyer. Jesse Michaels of Operation Ivy contributed the artwork on the album. The inner sleeve shows handwritten lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong and letters by drummer John Kiffmeyer and Lookout owner Larry Livermore to I.R.S. Records, rejecting a fake offer to sign to the label and declaring its loyalty to Lookout (however, the band would later leave the label and move to Reprise Records).
