The 2016 Asian Tour was the 22nd season of the modern Asian Tour, the main men's professional golf tour in Asia excluding Japan, since it was established in 1995. Chan Shih-chang
Chan Shih-chang (; born 7 June 1986) is a Taiwanese professional golfer, who plays on the Asian Tour. Amateur career As an amateur, Chan won the 2004 Hong Kong Amateur Open and competed in the 2006 Asian Games, winning the bronze medal in the men's team event. Professional career Chan turned professional in 2008 and has competed on several tours in Asia; the Japan Golf Tour, the Asian Tour, the Asian Development Tour, the PGA Tour China and the OneAsia Tour. He has also competed on the European Tour. Chan has had much success on the Asian Development Tour where he has won six times, including three wins in 2014 when he finished second on the Order of Merit. He won the Eternal Courtyard Open on the PGA Tour China in 2015. Chan's biggest win came at the 2016 King's Cup, an event co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the European Tour. SMBC Singapore Open
The Singapore Open was a golf tournament in Singapore that was predominantly part of the Asian Tour schedule. The event was held at Sentosa Golf Club since 2005 and since 2017 had been part of the Open Qualifying Series, giving up to four non-exempt players entry into The Open Championship. The Singapore Open was founded in 1961 and was one of the tournaments on the first season of the Far East Circuit (later the Asia Golf Circuit) the following year. It remained part of the Asia circuit until 1993 when it became a fixture on the Australasian Tour. After just 3 seasons, it left the Australasian Tour to join the fledgling Asian Tour for that tour's second season in 1996. True Thailand Classic
The Thailand Classic is a professional golf tournament currently played on the European Tour. The tournament was created in 2015, as a co-sanctioned event between the Asian Tour and the European Tour. History The inaugural tournament was played from 12–15 February 2015 at the Black Mountain Golf Club, in Hua Hin. The tournament was renamed as the True Thailand Classic after the True Corporation had committed to sponsoring the event. It had a purse of , twice as high as the other leading tournaments in the country, such as the Thailand Golf Championship and Thailand Open. Australian Andrew Dodt won the inaugural tournament by one stroke over Scott Hend and Thongchai Jaidee. Hend won the following year. Lodewicus Theodorus "Louis" Oosthuizen (; born 1982) is a South African professional golfer who won the 2010 Open Championship. He has finished runner-up in all four major championships: the 2012 Masters Tournament, the 2015 and 2021 U.S. Open, the 2015 Open Championship, and the PGA Championship in 2017 and 2021. The World Super 6 Perth is a golf tournament that was played for the first time in October 2012 as the ISPS Handa Perth International. The 2016 European Tour was the eighth edition of the Race to Dubai and the 45th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The Race to Dubai was won for the second time by Sweden's Henrik Stenson, who was also named Golfer of the Year. The Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year was Wang Jeung-hun from South Korea. Marcus Fraser (born 26 July 1978) is an Australian professional golfer who plays on the European Tour, PGA Tour of Australasia and Asian Tour. Career Born in Corowa, New South Wales, Fraser spent his early years working at a supermarket. He completed a distinguished amateur career in 2002, finishing as the top individual in the Eisenhower Trophy world teams event. He turned professional in 2002 and completed his first seasons playing on Europe's second tier Challenge Tour. In 2003, he won three tournaments in one month, the Danish Open, the Talma Finnish Challenge and the Russian Open, which was also a European Tour event. Shaun Patrick Norris (born 14 May 1982) is a South African professional golfer. Professional career Norris plays on the Sunshine Tour where he has won twice.
