2015 Sri Lanka Football Premier League (also known as 2015 Dialog Champions League for sponsorship reasons) was the 31st season of Sri Lanka Football Premier League. Solid SC of Anuradhapura were the defending champions. 2015 Season was different from the previous season. In this season 22 teams compete in two groups of 11 as Group A and B. Top 4 teams from each groups qualify for the Super 8 round. Each team competes with one-another in round-robin format. Team with the best record at the end of Super 8 would become the champion. The defending champions in the previous tournament Solid SC was eliminated in the First round. The champions of this tournament will qualify for preliminary round of AFC Cup. Colombo FC emerged champions of the Dialog Champions League 2015 by a solitary goal difference with Renown SC. Sri Lanka Football Premier League
The S1 League ( si, එස්1 ලීගය; ta, எஸ்1 லீக்), or simply S1, also known as Sri Lanka Champions League, is the second tier division of the Football in Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan football league system and was succeeded by the professional Sri Lanka Super League which serves as the first division. Until 2019 it was sponsored by Dialog Axiata and was thus officially known as the Dialog Champions League. The league was conducted in various formats. Apart from the league system, a playoff stage was included in 2013 Sri Lanka Football Premier League, 2013–14 season. Currently, 18 clubs are participating in the tournament. Saunders SC, Saunders have won the most titles in the league, winning 12 titles. Ratnam SC, Rathnam have won the title 5 times, Renown SC, Renown 4 times, and Colombo FC, Colombo 3 times. Sugathadasa Stadium
Sugathadasa Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is currently used for football, rugby union, and athletics. The stadium holds 25,000 people and has an on-site hotel. History The concept of an outdoor sporting stadium was initially raised by V. A. Sugathadasa, the Mayor of Colombo (1956–57, 1963–65), the country's first Minister of Sports (1966–70) and Chairman of the National Olympic and Commonwealth Games Committee. Construction of the stadium commenced on 16 January 1957 and was completed on 16 December 1962. The stadium was named after Sugathadasa, as he donated the land it was built on. In 1991, an indoor stadium was constructed on the site by the Mitsui Company for the 1991 South Asian Games. Stadium usage The 1991 and 2006 South Asian Games were held in Sugathadasa Stadium. New Youngs SC is a Sri Lankan professional football club based in Wennappuwa. They play in the highest domestic football league, the Sri Lanka Champions League.
