2015 Korfball World Championship
The 10th IKF World Korfball Championship were held in the Belgian cities of Ghent, Tielen and Antwerp in 2015. Ghent and Tielen hosted the first and second round matches, whilst the placing matches and finals were all held in the Lotto Arena in Antwerp. This tournament also acts as the qualification tournament for Korfball at the World Games 2017. Seven teams will qualify for the World Games, including first all non-European teams finishing in the top 11. As such, at least one and maximum six non-European teams will qualify. Then, the remaining slots will be filled by the top European teams in this competition, with the exception of Poland which have already qualified as host country of the World Games 2017. The International Korfball Federation chose to award the hosting rights for the tournament to Belgium on 4 November 2011. 2014 IKF European Korfball Championship
The 2014 European Korfball Championship was held in Portugal from October 25 to November 2, with 16 national teams in competition. The tournament also served as a European qualifier for the 2015 Korfball World Championship, with the top ten nations qualifying for the world championship. Group stage The group stages took place in Maia. The IKF had implemented a new format of qualifying from the group stages. In these European Championships, the top eight nations were seeded in to pools A & B. In these pools the top three teams qualified for the quarter-finals. Korfball World Championship
The IKF World Korfball Championship is an international korfball competition contested by the national teams of the members of International Korfball Federation (IKF), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded roughly every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1978. The current champions are the Netherlands, who won the 2019 IKF World Korfball Championship. The current format of the tournament involves 20 teams competing for the title at venues within the host nation over a period of about a week. The 11 World Championships have been won by two different national teams. The Netherlands have won all but one time, losing only to Belgium in the 1991 Korfball World Championship. The India national korfball team is managed by the Korfball Federation of India (KFI), representing India in korfball international competitions. India is the oldest korfball playing country in Asia. Since 1979, when the game was first introduced in India, korfball popularity has continued to rise and now the game is played in 27 states with each state having its own association to promote and organise events. Korfball is recognised by the Union Ministry for Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and national championships in senior, junior and sub-junior categories and the inter-university and inter-school championships are held regularly. The Netherlands national korfball team ( nl, Nederlands korfbalteam) represents the Netherlands in international korfball. It is controlled by the Royal Dutch Korfball Association (KNKV), the governing body of korfball in the Netherlands. Russia National Korfball Team
The Russia national korfball team is managed by the Russian Korfball Federation (RKF), representing Russia in korfball international competitions. In response to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, on March 1, 2022, the International Korfball Federation announced that the Russian Korfball Federation would not be invited until further notice to any international korfball competition. This implied effectively that no Russian athletes shall take part in any international korfball event.
