2015 Aegon Open Nottingham
The 2015 Nottingham Open (known for sponsorship reasons as the Aegon Open Nottingham) was a combined men's and women's tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts. It was the fifth edition of the event for the women (the first since 1974) and the 20th edition for the men (the first since 2008). It was classified as a WTA International tournaments, WTA International tournament on the 2015 WTA Tour and as an ATP World Tour 250 series tournament on the 2015 ATP World Tour. The event took place at the Nottingham Tennis Centre in Nottingham, United Kingdom from 8 June through 15 June 2015 for the women, and from 21 June through 27 June 2015 for the men. Grass Court
A grass court is one of the four different types of tennis court on which the sport of tennis, originally known as "lawn tennis", is played. Grass courts are made of grasses in different compositions depending on the tournament. Although grass courts are more traditional than other types of tennis courts, Turf management, maintenance costs of grass courts are higher than those of hard courts and clay courts. Grass courts (in the absence of suitable covers) must be left for the day if rain appears, as the grass becomes very slippery when wet and will not dry for many hours. This is a disadvantage on outdoor courts compared to using hard and clay surfaces, where play can resume in 30 to 120 minutes after the end of rain.
