2014 Turkish Super Cup ( Turkish: TFF Süper Kupa) was the 41st edition of the Turkish Super Cup since its establishment as ''Presidential Cup'' in 1966. The match was contested between the 2013–14 Süper Lig champions Fenerbahçe and the 2013–14 Turkish Cup winners Galatasaray, making the game the 378th edition of Kıtalar Arası Derbi. The game was a rematch of the 2013 Turkish Super Cup, which was won by title holders Galatasaray. Background The fixture was the sixth overall national super cup matchup between the teams since 1966, and the third matchup since 2006 and 2013. The Turkish Super Cup ( Turkish: ''TFF Süper Kupa''), as it is currently known, is the annual super cup football match contested between the previous season's Süper Lig champions and the Turkish Cup winners in Turkey. It was originally known as the ''Cumhurbaşkanlığı Kupası'' (Presidential Cup) from 1966 to 1998. No competition was held between 1999 and 2005, although there was a substitute competition played under the name of Atatürk Cup in 2000. The rebranded ''TFF Süper Kupa'' is a curtain raiser for the upcoming footballing season, usually taking place in August. Caner Erkin (, born 4 October 1988) is a Turkish professional footballer who plays for Süper Lig club İstanbul Başakşehir and the Turkey national team. Dirk Kuijt (anglicised to Kuyt, ; born 22 July 1980) is a Dutch former professional footballer and was the head coach of Eerste Divisie side ADO Den Haag. Originally starting out as a striker, he played much of his career as a winger. Kuyt began his professional career with Utrecht in 1998 and quickly became part of its first team.
