The 2014 European Badminton Championships were the 24th tournament of the European Badminton Championships. They were held in Kazan, Russia, from April 23 to April 27, 2014. The competitions were held in the Gymnastics Center. Gymnastics Center Kazan
The Kazan Gymnastics Center (russian: центр гимнастики Казань), is an indoor sports arena in Kazan, Russia. Built for 2013 Summer Universiade, it was inaugurated on 14 November 2012. Currently it is used for training athletes from Kazan Youth Sports Schools and Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism. Özge Bayrak
Özge Bayrak (born 14 February 1992) is a Turkish badminton player. She is coached by Çağatay Taşdemir at Egospor club of Ankara Metropolis Municipality. Currently, she is studying at Aksaray University. She competed at various international tournaments in singles and doubles with her partner Neslihan Yiğit. At the 2013 Mediterranean Games held in Mersin, Turkey, she won the silver medal in the women's singles event, and the gold medal in the women's doubles event along with Neslihan Yiğit. In August 2014, the National Olympic Committee of Turkey named her one of the sixteen "golden" sportspeople of Turkey, who have a great chance to win a medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Jorrit De Ruiter
Jorrit de Ruiter (born November 28, 1986 in Amsterdam) was a Dutch internationally elite badminton player who, until September 2015, was member of the Dutch National Badminton Team. After he had played in the 2015 World Championships in Jakarta he decided to put an end to his international career. De Ruiter was a doubles specialist. Until April 2013 he played the men's doubles together with Dave Khodabux (highest achieved world ranking 32). From that moment on he only played the mixed doubles with Samantha Barning who was his partner in this discipline since 2012 and with whom he achieved world ranking 24 in about a year’s time. Selena Piek (born 30 September 1991) is a Dutch badminton player who specializes in doubles. Her current partner is Cheryl Seinen for women's doubles and Robin Tabeling for mixed doubles. She won the 2014 and 2015 editions of Dutch National Badminton Championships with Eefje Muskens. She has also won the mixed doubles national championships title since 2012 with three different partners. Eefje Muskens (born 17 June 1989), is a Dutch badminton player who specializes in doubles. Her current partner for women's doubles is Selena Piek. Petya Nedelcheva
Petya Nedelcheva ( bg, Петя Неделчева; born 30 July 1983) is a Bulgarian badminton player. She was born in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. At the Bulgarian National Badminton Championships she won more than 20 titles. Career A right-handed Nedelcheva became a professional badminton player since 1999, when she competed at the Balkan Games Championships. In 2001, she won bronze medals at the European Junior Badminton Championships in the girls' singles and doubles event. She also won the silver medal at the 2010 European Badminton Championships in the women's doubles event partnered with Anastasia Russkikh of Russia. Imogen Bankier
Imogen Bankier (born 18 November 1987) is a businesswoman and former badminton player from Scotland. After starting playing the sport at the age of 9, Bankier won the national championships at every age level from Under 17 upwards. The highlight of her professional career was reaching the final of the mixed doubles at the 2011 World Championships in Wembley, London. She and her partner Chris Adcock were defeated in the match by the Chinese team of Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei. Andrew Ellis (born 21 January 1987) is an English badminton player who specializes in doubles. He won the European individual bronze medals with Chris Adcock in 2012 and 2014. Ellis reached top 10 BWF ranking in the men's doubles event with Adcock in November 2013. Chris Adcock
Christopher Thomas Adcock (born 27 April 1989) is a retired English badminton player. Adcock is currently sponsored by Yonex and YC Sports and plays for the University of Nottingham-based NBL team. He entered the National team in 2006, and later won the boys' doubles and mixed team titles at the 2007 European Junior Championships. He was a World Championships medalists winning a silver in 2011 with Imogen Bankier and a bronze in 2017 with Gabby Adcock. Together with Gabby, he also won a silver medal at the 2007 World Junior Championships, and then claimed the gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and 2018; and at the European Championships in 2017 and 2018. Carsten Mogensen
Carsten Mogensen (born 24 July 1983) is a former badminton player from Denmark. He was the gold medalist at the 2015 European Games, two time European champions winning in 2012 and 2017, and the silver medalist at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Mogensen was a former world number 1 in the BWF World ranking together with Mathias Boe. Early life Mogensen was born in Roskilde, a city on the island of Zealand and is currently living in nearby Greve.
