2013 BBVA Compass Bowl
The 2013 BBVA Compass Bowl, the seventh edition of the game, was a post-season American college football bowl game, held on January 5, 2013 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama as part of the 2012–13 NCAA Bowl season. The game, which was telecasted at 12:00 p.m. CT on ESPN, featured the University of Pittsburgh Panthers of the Big East Conference versus the University of Mississippi Rebels of the Southeastern Conference. This was Pittsburgh's third consecutive appearance in the game, as well as its final game as a member of the Big East before they join the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2013. The announced attendance for the game was a BBVA Compass Bowl record 59,135, eclipsing the previous attendance record of 42,610 in the 2010 edition. Legion Field
Legion Field is an outdoor stadium in the southeastern United States in Birmingham, Alabama, primarily designed to be used as a venue for American football, but occasionally used for other large outdoor events. Opened in 1927, it is named in honor of the American Legion, a U.S. organization of military veterans. Since the removal of the upper deck in 2004, Legion Field has a seating capacity of approximately 71,594. At its peak, it seated 83,091 for football and had the name "Football Capital of the South" emblazoned from the facade on its upper deck. 2012–13 NCAA Football Bowl Games
The 2012–13 NCAA football bowl games were a series of college football bowl games. They concluded the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season, and included 35 team-competitive games and four all-star games. The games began on Saturday December 15, 2012 and, aside from the all-star games, concluded with the 2013 BCS National Championship Game in Miami Gardens, Florida that was played on January 7, 2013. The total of 35 team-competitive bowls was unchanged from the previous year. While bowl games had been the purview of only the very best teams for nearly a century, this was the seventh consecutive year that teams with non-winning seasons participated in bowl games. Birmingham Bowl
The Birmingham Bowl is a post-season NCAA-sanctioned Division I FBS college football bowl game played annually in Birmingham, Alabama. First held in 2006, the game is owned and operated by ESPN Events. The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) also provides marketing, management and game-day operations support. The game was previously known as the PapaJohns.com Bowl (2006–2010) and the BBVA Compass Bowl (2011–2014). TicketSmarter signed on as the title sponsor of the 2019 game, making it the TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl. Tino Sunseri (born December 21, 1988) is an American football coach and former quarterback who is currently a quarterbacks coach at the James Madison University. He was originally signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2013. He played college football at Pittsburgh. William Robert Wallace, Jr. (born June 23, 1992), nicknamed Dr. Bo, is an American football coach and former player. He played college football at Ole Miss and was the Rebels starting quarterback from 2012 to 2014. College career Wallace attended Arkansas State University in 2010 under head coach Steve Roberts. The 2012 Ole Miss Rebels football team represented the University of Mississippi in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season.
