The 2011 World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships were held between 10 and 13 March 2011 in the Max Aicher Arena, Inzell Inzell is a municipality in the district of Traunstein in Bavaria, Germany. Max Aicher Arena
The Max Aicher Arena (in the past also known as Eisstadion Inzell and Ludwig-Schwabl-Stadion) is a stadium located in Inzell, Germany, best known as a speed skating venue. It is an indoor, artificial ice rink, located 690 metres (2,264 feet) above sea level and has a capacity of 10,000 people. Since its opening, as an outdoor venue, towards the end of 1965, more than 80 world records in speed skating have been broken here, and until the advent of indoor speed skating arenas, it was known as the fastest European speed skating rink, second in the world after the Medeu rink. The stadium is also used for ice hockey, ice speedway, and (in the summer months) roller skating. Trevor Marsicano
Trevor Marsicano (born April 5, 1989) is an American speed skater and silver medalist in the Winter Olympics. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Marsicano won a silver medal for his part in the team pursuit. He did not skate in the final but did skate in the quarterfinals with Chad Hedrick and Jonathan Kuck. Marsicano's breakthrough performance was at the 2009 World Single Distance Championships where he won four medals (one gold, one silver, two bronze). Overall, Marsicano has won two golds, one silver, and two bronze at the World Championships. Marsicano has also won the overall bronze at the World Junior Championships. Jorien Voorhuis (born 26 August 1984, in Hengelo) is a Dutch speedskater. Until season 2009/2012 she skated with the VPZ-team. Before season 2010/2011 Voorhuis changed to TVM. Her favorite distances are 1500 and 3000 meters. Heather Bergsma (''née'' Richardson; born March 20, 1989) is an American former speed skater who competed between 2006 and 2020. Career Bergsma is a native of North Carolina. She represented the United States at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where she finished 6th in 500 metres, 9th in the 1000 metres, and 16th in the 1500 metres. At the 2011 World Single Distance Championships in Inzell, Germany, she won a bronze medal in the 1000 metres. Christine Nesbitt (born 17 May 1985) is a Canadian retired long track speed skater who currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. Lee Sang-hwa (Korean: 이상화, Hanja: 李相花, ; born 25 February 1989) is a South Korean retired speed skater who specialises in the sprint distances. She is a two-time Olympic champion in 500 metres (2010 and 2014) and the 2010 World Sprint champion. Jenny Wolf (born 31 January 1979) is a former German speed skater. On 10 March 2007 at the ISU World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah, she broke the world record for the women's 500 m in her second race. Koen Verweij (; born 26 August 1990) is a former Dutch speed skater and inline speed skater. At the end of the skating season 2008–09 he made a transfer from the Jong Oranje team of the national skating union ( KNSB) to the commercial team of TVM. Verweij was the holder of the Dutch national record at the 1500 metres distance from 9 December 2017 until 10 March 2019. Jan Blokhuijsen (; born 1 April 1989) is an Olympic award-winning Dutch long-track speed skater who until 2013 skated for the commercial TVM team. Career He currently holds the world record in the team pursuit discipline, along with teammates Sven Kramer and Koen Verweij.
