2009 UNCAF Nations Cup
The UNCAF Nations Cup 2009 was the tenth edition of the UNCAF Nations Cup, the biennial football (soccer) tournament for the CONCACAF-affiliated national teams of Central America. The first five places qualified for the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The event was going to take place in Panama City, Panama between January 22 and February 1, 2009, but the Panamanian FA announced that they would not host the event due to not having an adequate stadium available for the time period of the tournament. The alternative hosts were Honduras and Guatemala. Honduras submitted an official replacement bid on November 12, and after some consideration it was moved to Honduras. All games were played in Estadio Tiburcio Carías Andino in Tegucigalpa. The tournament was sponsored by Digicel. On 1 February 2009 Panama won the tournament, the first UNCAF Nations Cup win in the country's history. Andy Furtado
Andy Furtado Dixon (born 3 January 1980) is a Costa Rican footballer who currently plays for Belén. Club career He lost the Second Division championship final in May 2005 with Fusión Tibás. In August 2008 Furtado signed a 4-month contract with Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua. He played in the CONCACAF's Champions League 2008-09, with Marathón of Honduras. In January 2009 he moved to Herediano on loan. After returning to Marathón, Furtado was banned from football by the Costa Rica football federation in September 2009, after being tested positive for betamethasone. In May 2011 he resumed playing when he was snapped up by Guatemalan outfit Comunicaciones. In January 2012, he returned to Costa Rica to play for Limón and in Summer 2012, he joined Belén. UNCAF
The Unión Centroamericana de Fútbol (Central American Football Union), more commonly known by the acronym UNCAF, represents the national football teams of Central America: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Carlos Alberto Batres González (born April 2, 1968 in Guatemala City) is a Guatemalan football referee. He has refereed FIFA World Cup qualification and final tournament matches, and at Olympic tournaments. Having refereed in FIFA since January 1, 1996, Batres conducted his first international match on October 27, 1996, a 1998 World Cup qualifier between Panama and Canada. Marlon José Medina García (born 6 March 1985) is a Nicaraguan footballer who currently plays for Deportivo Ocotal in the Primera División de Nicaragua. Belize National Football Team
The Belize national football team represents Belize in international football and is controlled by the Football Federation of Belize, a member of the Central American Football Union of CONCACAF. The Nicaragua national football team ( es, Selección de fútbol de Nicaragua) represents Nicaragua in men's international football and is controlled by the Nicaraguan Football Federation. Nicaragua achieved its first qualification to a major international competition in 2009, as they qualified for the 2009 Gold Cup as the last entrant from Central America, after a 2–0 win over Guatemala in the fifth place match in the 2009 Nations Cup. UNCAF Nations Cup 2007
The 2007 UNCAF Nations Cup was the ninth version of the biennial football tournament for the CONCACAF national teams of Central America. The event took place in San Salvador, El Salvador from February 8 to February 18, 2007. It was the second time El Salvador hosted the competition. The tournament also served as a qualifying process for the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Costa Rica won the tournament on penalty kicks after a 1–1 draw with Panama in the final. It was Costa Rica's sixth title out of nine tournaments played. Panama reached the UNCAF final for the first time but also lost on penalty kicks in the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2005. The Guatemala national football team ( es, Selección de fútbol de Guatemala) represents Guatemala in men's international association football, football and is controlled by the ''National Football Federation of Guatemala, Federación Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala''. Panama National Football Team
The Panama national football team ( es, Selección de fútbol de Panamá) represents Panama in men's international football and is governed by the Panamanian Football Federation. The team represents all three FIFA, CONCACAF and the regional UNCAF. Panama qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time for the 2018 tournament in Russia and scored their first goal of the World Cup against England, although they lost the match 6–1.
