2009 Meistriliiga
The 2009 Meistriliiga was the 19th season of the Meistriliiga, Estonia's premier football league. It started on 7 March 2009 and ended on 10 November 2009. Levadia won their seventh title. Changes from the previous season TVMK were disbanded after the end of the previous season. Hence Vaprus, who originally were to be directly relegated, faced Esiliiga side Paide Linnameeskond in a relegation play-off series for one spot in Meistriliiga 2009. With an aggregate 5–5, Paide Linnameeskond won the promotion play-off against Vaprus on the away goals rule and play their first season in Estonian top division. Tallinna Kalev, who originally were to participate in the relegation series, were spared. Kuressaare earned promotion to the 2009 Meistriliiga after finishing in second place in the 2008 Esiliiga; champions Levadia II were not eligible to be promoted. Meistriliiga
Meistriliiga (, known as the A. Le Coq Premium Liiga for sponsorship reasons) is the highest division of the Estonian Football Association annual football championship. The league was founded in 1992, and was initially semi-professional with amateur clubs allowed to compete. With the help of solidarity mechanisms, the league is fully professional since the 2020 season. As in most countries with low temperatures in winter time, the season starts in March and ends in November. Meistriliiga consists of ten clubs, all teams play each other four times. After each season the bottom team is relegated and the second last team plays a two-legged play-off for a place in the Meistriliiga. In February 2013, A. Le Coq, an Estonian brewery company, signed a five-year cooperation agreement with the Estonian Football Association, which included Meistriliiga naming rights. Getúlio Aurelio Fredo (born 22 September 1954) is a Brazilian-born football manager. Coaching career Fredo's most recent position was as the head coach of the Estonian football club Nõmme Kalju. Hiiu Stadium
Hiiu Stadium ( et, Hiiu staadion) is a multi-purpose stadium in Tallinn, Estonia. The stadium and the administration building are owned by Nõmme district and are operated by Nõmme Sport Centre (''Nõmme spordikeskus''). It is used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Nõmme Kalju youth teams. The address of the stadium is Pidu tänav 11, Tallinn. The stadium was completely renovated in 2002 and cost 8 million Estonian kroon. In 2006, the old artificial turf was replaced by a 3rd generation turf and an administration building with a stand for 300 people was erected. Tarmo Rüütli
Tarmo Rüütli (born 11 August 1954) is an Estonian football manager and former football player. As player, Rüütli won the 1985 Estonian Championship with Pärnu Kalakombinaat/MEK. As manager, he led Levadia to three Meistriliiga titles and three Estonian Cups, and Flora to one Estonian Cup and one Estonian Supercup. Rüütli has served as the manager of the Estonia national team twice, from 1999 to 2000 and from 2008 to 2013. He led the team to their highest ever FIFA ranking of 47th in 2012, and came close to qualifying for a major tournament for the first time in Estonia's history, reaching the UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying play-offs. JK Narva Trans, commonly known as Narva Trans or just Trans, are a professional Estonian association football club based in Narva that compete in the Meistriliiga, the top flight of Estonian football. Tartu JK Tammeka, commonly known as Tartu Tammeka or simply Tammeka, is a football club, based in Tartu, Estonia, that competes in the Meistriliiga, the top flight of Estonian football. FCI Levadia U21 Tallinn, commonly known as FCI Levadia U21, is a football club, based in Tallinn, Estonia. Founded as Levadia Tallinn, it was the reserve team of Levadia Maardu from 2000–2004. In 2004, Levadia Maardu moved to Tallinn and became the new Levadia Tallinn, while the reserve team became Levadia II. Reserve teams in Estonia play in the same league system as the senior team, rather than in a reserve team league. They must play at least one level below their main side, however, so Levadia U21 is ineligible for promotion to the Meistriliiga but can play in the Estonian Cup.
