2009 European Curling Championships
The 2009 Le Gruyère European Curling Championships were held in Aberdeen, Scotland from 4 to 12 December 2009. The A-Group tournament took place at the Linx Ice Arena, and the B-Group are playing at Curl Aberdeen. A total of 51 teams from 30 European countries were competing. Aberdeen
Aberdeen (; sco, Aiberdeen ; gd, Obar Dheathain ; la, Aberdonia) is a city in North East Scotland, and is the third most populous city in the country. 2008 European Curling Championships
The 2008 Le Gruyère European Curling Championships were held at Swedbank Arena in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden December 6–13, 2008. In a rematch of the men's A-Group final from the 2007 European Curling Championships, David Murdoch led Scotland to a second straight gold medal over Norway's Thomas Ulsrud 7–6 in an extra end. On the women's side, Switzerland's Mirjam Ott defeated home-country favorite Anette Norberg of Sweden 5–4. A total of 51 teams from 29 European countries competed. Lars Vilandt
Lars Vilandt (born 22 August 1974)http://www.vancouver2010.com/olympic-curling/athletes/lars-vilandt_ath1017728fB.html is a Danish curler from Hvidovre. He made his world championship debut at the 2001 Lausanne World Championships with a team skippered by Johnny Frederiksen. At the 2009 Moncton World Championships his team placed fifth with a 5–6 record. These three results would be good enough to qualify a team to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Bo Jensen (born 1976) is an internationally elite curler from Denmark. For the 2009/2010 competitive season he has played Second for Ulrik Schmidt's team from Denmark. Ulrik Schmidt
Ulrik Schmidt (born 19 August 1962) is a Danish curler. He currently skips the Danish national team, while he throws third stones. Schmidt's first international appearance was at the 1984 World Junior Curling Championships, where he skipped the Danish team to a 9th-place finish. He was then picked up by Sören Bang to play lead at the 1987 European Curling Championships, placing fourth. He was the team's alternate at the 1991 Euros, skipped by Gert Larsen, placing 6th. Schmidt skipped his own team beginning in 1996. That season, he finished 5th at the European Championships and 6th at the 1997 Ford World Men's Curling Championship. Later that year, he won a silver medal at the 1997 European Championships, where he lost to Germany (skipped by Andy Kapp) in the final. Schmidt didn't return to international competition until the 1999 Ford World Men's Curling Championship, where he placed 6th. Johnny Frederiksen
Johnny Frederiksen (born 31 July 1975 in Hvidovre) is a Danish curler from Copenhagen. He is the skip of the men's Danish national team. Frederiksen skipped Denmark at three World Junior Curling Championships (1994, 1995, 1996), two European Curling Championships (2006, 2007) and five World Curling Championships (2001, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008). Frederiksen's best performance at the World Championships was a 2nd-place finish in 2016. Martin Snítil
Martin Snítil (born 20 November 1978) is a Czech curler. He currently plays second on a team skipped by his brother, Jiří. Snítil made his international curling debut at the 2003 European Curling Championships, having coached the Czech men's team the previous season. Martin played second on the Czech team, skipped by his brother Jiří, and they finished 15th. The team returned to the European Championships in 2006, this time with Martin playing third on the team. At the 2006 European Curling Championships, they finished 11th. They improved the following season; at the 2007 European Curling Championships, they finish in 8th place, qualifying themselves for the 2008 World Men's Curling Championship- the first Czech team to qualify for the Worlds. Jiří Snítil (born 24 February 1975) is a curler from the Czech Republic. He currently skips the Czech Republic national team. He started curling at the age of 21. Snítil has represented the Czech Republic in seven World Curling Championships (2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015). His best placing so far at a world championship was 7th in 2014. In the 2012 European Curling Championships in Karlstad, Sweden, was a first for the country in curling, as it is the first time that the Czech Republic won a medal in an international men's event.
