The 2007–08 Meistriliiga (ice hockey), Meistriliiga season was the 18th season of the Meistriliiga, the top level of ice hockey in Estonia. Meistriliiga (ice Hockey)
The Meistriliiga (EML), also known as the Coolbet Hokiliiga for sponsorship reasons, is the top-tier ice hockey league in Estonia. The league currently consists of five teams from Estonia and two teams from Riga, Latvia. History The league was formed in the 1990–91 season. Since 1945–46, Estonian teams had participated in the Estonian SSR Championship. Prior to the country's annexation and incorporation into the Soviet Union, the Estonian Championship had been contested in interwar Estonia from 1934 to 1940. In the 2017–18 season, the league was known as the Nordic Power Hokiliiga. Narva PSK has dominated the league at the outset, winning the first six championships and eight of the first 11 seasons. Since winning their first title in 1997, Tartu Kalev-Välk has been the most consistently successful team in the Meistriliiga since the league started, having won a total of nine championships. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. Tartu Kalev-Välk
Tartu Välk 494 is an ice hockey team located in Tartu, Estonia, and playing in the Coolbet Hokiliiga, the top tier of ice hockey in Estonia. They play home games at the Lõunakeskus Ice Hall. History Tartu Välk 494 was founded in April 1994, and the team won their first Meistriliiga Championship in 1997. Since then, team have gone on to win the league a further 10 times, with the most recent victory coming in 2020. In addition, they have twice won the now-defunct Estonian Cup, in 1997 and 1998. By performing well in the Meistriliiga, Välk 494 have subsequently represented Estonia in continental competition on several occasions, initially during the 1997–98 IIHF Continental Cup where they finished 3rd in the group, after suffering losses to Latvian side Juniors Riga and the Ukrainian Sokil Kyiv, but they did manage a victory over Romanian outfit SC Miercurea Ciuc. Narva PSK
Narva PSK ( et, Narva Paemurru Spordikool) is an ice hockey team located in Narva, Estonia, which plays in the Coolbet Hokiliiga, the top tier of ice hockey in Estonia. They play home games at the Narva Ice Hall. History Narva PSK were founded in 2003, following the dissolution of the previous Narva-based hockey team, Narva 2000 (formerly known as Narva Kreenholm). Since their inception, Narva PSK have been a member of the Meistriliiga, and won the league twice, in both 2016 and 2017. As a result of winning the league in 2017, Narva PSK took place in the 2017–18 IIHF Continental Cup, where they were in the same group as HC Donbass of Ukraine, Polish side GKS Tychy and Latvian outfit HK Kurbads. Narva would ultimately lose all of their games. Narva PSK were originally scheduled to be part of the inaugural Baltic Hockey League, however they were unable to participate as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequently HC Everest took their place. HC Purikad Tallinn
HC Panter is a professional ice hockey team located in Tallinn, Estonia, and playing in the Eesti Hokiliiga and Latvian Hockey Higher League. They play home games at the Škoda Ice Arena in the Haabersti district. History HC Panter were founded in 2001 by Rein Mölder and Olle Sildre, and participated in the following years Meistriliiga. A few years later in 2004, the team won their first, and as of January 2021 only, Meistriliiga title, beating PSK Narva in the play-off final. For the 2005-06 season, HC Panter also participated in the 2. Divisioona, the Finnish forth tier, ultimately finishing in 4th place in the Uusimaa conference.
