2005 South American U-20 Championship
The 2005 South American Youth Championship (Sudamericana sub-20) was a football competition contested by all ten U-20 national football teams of CONMEBOL. The tournament was held in Colombia between 13 January and 6 February 2005, it was the 22nd time the competition has been held and the third to take place in Colombia. Colombia finished undefeated, winning their second trophy. Format The teams are separated in two groups of five, and each team plays four matches in a pure round-robin stage. The three top competitors advance to a single final group of six, wherein each team plays five matches. Hugo Rodallega
Hugo Rodallega Martínez (born 25 July 1985) is a Colombian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Bahia. Rodallega started his professional career with Deportes Quindío in 2004. An impressive first season with the club earned him a call-up to represent Colombia at the U-20 South American Championship in 2005, where he went on to set a new record for most goals scored in the tournament. A move to Deportivo Cali and his senior international debut followed later in the year before he moved abroad, signing for Mexican Primera División side Monterrey. A disappointing spell resulted in a loan move to Atlas before being transferred to Necaxa in 2007. In January 2009, he moved to Wigan Athletic for a fee of £4.5 million. Juan Carlos Toja Vega (born 24 May 1985) is a former Colombian footballer. Club career Colombia Toja started his soccer career in Colombian tournament Interclubes (played amongst select country clubs) in the Clan MacGregor team, playing alongside retired professional player Lucas Jaramillo. Joined Colombian Santa Fe at age 16, playing for the club's U-19 team for six months, was promoted to the first team in early 2004, where he played 25 games in the next two seasons. Argentina Toja signed with Argentine club River Plate following the tournament but struggled to break into the first team. Juan Manuel "Chaco" Torres (born 20 June 1985 in Puerto Vilelas, Chaco), is a retired Argentine football midfielder. Career Former player of Argentine clubs Racing Club and San Lorenzo de Almagro (Buenos Aires), Torres made his professional debut in 2002 in the age of 17, he went on to make over 100 appearances for each of the Argentine club. Juan Eduardo Fierro Rivera (born June 23, 1988 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra) is a Bolivian football who plays for Bolivian Primera División club Nacional Potosí and the Bolivia national team. Estadio Palogrande is a multi-purpose stadium in Manizales, Colombia. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer) matches. With renovations made for the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia the stadium capacity dropped to 32,000 people. the first Palogrande was built in 1936 and then demolishd in 1993, the current Palogrande was inaugured in 1994.
