2004 Skate America
The 2004 Skate America was the first event of six in the 2004–05 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 21–24. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Skaters earned points toward qualifying for the 2004–05 Grand Prix Final. The compulsory dance was the Golden Waltz. Results Men Ladies Pairs There was an accident during the free skating. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. The 2004–05 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final was an elite figure skating competition held at the Capital Gymnasium in Beijing, China from December 16 to 19, 2004. Medals were awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The Grand Prix Final was the culminating event of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series, which consisted of Skate America, Skate Canada International, Cup of China, Trophée Éric Bompard, Cup of Russia, and NHK Trophy competitions. The top six skaters from each discipline competed in the final. Vakhtang Murvanidze ( ka, ვახტანგ მურვანიძე; born 13 October 1979 in Tbilisi) is a Georgian former competitive figure skater. He is a multiple Georgian national champion and represented Georgia twice at the Olympics, in 2002 (17th) and 2006 (28th). His highest placement at the European Championships was 7th in 2003. Stefan Lindemann
Stefan Lindemann (born 30 September 1980) is a German retired figure skater. He is the 2004 World bronze medalist, 2005 European bronze medalist, 2000 World Junior champion, and a seven-time (2000, 2002, 2004–2007, 2010) German national champion. Career Stefan Lindeman started skating at age 4 in Erfurt at the local skating club. At age 12 he wanted to play ice hockey, but his mother kept him in figure skating. His coach was Ilona Schindler. After finishing his school he was sponsored by the Bundeswehr (German Army). Ben Ferreira (born April 5, 1979) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. He is the 2004 Skate Canada International silver medallist, the 2004 Bofrost Cup on Ice silver medallist, and a three-time Canadian national medallist. Career Ferreira placed 12th at the 1998 World Junior Championships. In the 1999–2000 season, he won the bronze medal at the Canadian Championships. He placed tenth at the 2000 Four Continents and 19th at the 2000 World Championships in Nice, France. Evan Frank Lysacek (; born June 4, 1985) is an American retired figure skater. He is the 2010 Olympic champion, the 2009 World champion, a two-time (2005, 2007) Four Continents champion, the 2009 Grand Prix Final champion, and a two-time (2007, 2008) U.S. national champion. Roman Serov
Roman Serov (born 16 December 1976 in Moscow) is a Russian-born figure skater and skating coach who has also competed for Israel. He won two medals on the Grand Prix series and is a two-time Israeli national champion. Career Serov represented Russia until 2001–2002, twice placing 4th at the Russian Championships and winning medals at Cup of Russia and Finlandia Trophy. After his marriage to an Israeli, he decided to represent Israel and sat out the mandatory wait period, returning to international competition in 2003. Michael Weiss (born August 2, 1976) is an American former competitive and currently professional figure skater. He is in the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame and is a three-time national champion (1999, 2000, 2003) a two-time World bronze medalist (1999, 2000), and a two-time Olympic team member. Ryan Jahnke (born March 21, 1978) is an American former competitive figure skater. He is the 2004 Skate America silver medalist and 2003 U.S. national bronze medalist. Personal life Jahnke was born on March 21, 1978, in Detroit, Michigan. He studied pre-medicine on a four-year academic scholarship at Wayne State University before quitting due to his move to Colorado.
