Nemzeti Bajnokság I
The Nemzeti Bajnokság (, "National Championship"), also known as NB I, is the top level of the Hungarian football league system. The league is officially named OTP Bank Liga after its title sponsor OTP Bank. UEFA currently ranks the league 28th in Europe. Twelve teams compete in the league, playing each other three times, once at home, once away, and the third match is played at the stadium that the last match was not played at. At the end of the season, the top team enters the qualification for the UEFA Champions League, while the runner-up and the third place, together with the winner of the Magyar Kupa enter the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification rounds. The bottom two clubs are relegated to Nemzeti Bajnokság II, the second-level league, to be replaced by the winner and the runner up of the NB2. Magyar Testgyakorlók Köre Budapest Futball Club or shortly MTK is a Hungarian football club based in Józsefváros, Budapest. The team currently plays in the Nemzeti Bajnokság II. The club's colours are blue and white. As one of the most successful Hungarian football clubs, MTK has won the Hungarian League 23 times and the Hungarian Cup 12 times. The club has also won the Hungarian Super Cup twice. In 1955, as ''Vörös Lobogó SE'', they became the first Hungarian team to play in the European Cup and in 1964 they finished as runners-up in the European Cup Winners' Cup after losing to Sporting Clube de Portugal in the final. The club founded the Sándor Károly Football Academy in 2001. The Academy also has a partnership agreement with English club Liverpool. Békéscsaba 1912 Előre is a Hungarian football club from Békéscsaba. The club was founded in 1912 as ''Előre Munkás Testedző Egyesület''. The colours of the club are lilac and white. The club achieved its greatest success in 1988 when it won the Hungarian Cup competition, defeating Budapest Honvéd FC 3–2 in the final. Zoltán Hercegfalvi
Zoltán Hercegfalvi (born 31 December 1979 in Budapest) is a Hungarian footballer. Career Club Hercegfalvi joined the youth academy of storied Hungarian team Honvéd at the age of 6, and played all the way through their system before making his first team appearance in 1998. He played at Honvéd until 2003, and subsequently enjoyed stints with rivals Videoton Székesfehérvár, Lombard-Pápa TFC, and Czech side Slavia Prague, before rejoining Honvéd in 2006. In total, Hercegfalvi spent more than 20 years at Honvéd, and made over 150 appearances for the club. He won the Hungarian Cup with Honvéd in 2007 and played in the UEFA Intertoto Cup with Székesfehérvár in 2003, with Lombard-Pápa in 2005, and with Honvéd in 2008. Hercegfalvi joined the Kansas City Wizards on 28 July 2009. Róbert Waltner (born 20 September 1977) is a Hungarian football coach and a former player. Playing career Waltner was a forward during his playing career, and is most remembered for representing Zalaegerszeg during three different spells and is the club's all-time top scorer with 92 league goals. He was part of the Zalaegerszeg side that won the club's first league title in the 2001–02 season, under manager Péter Bozsik. In the third qualifying round of the 2002–03 UEFA Champions League, Waltner was part of the Zalaegerszeg squad that faced English giants Manchester United. Zoltán Gera (; born 22 April 1979) is a Hungarian former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. He played for Fulham, Pécsi Mecsek and Harkány SE, as well as enjoying two spells at Ferencváros and West Bromwich Albion. Gera is known for his overhead-kick goals and his cartwheel to back-flip celebration, which he demonstrated in Fulham's Europa League quarter-final win against Juventus in 2010. In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues.
