2001–02 QMJHL Season
The 2001–02 QMJHL season was the 33rd season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The league inaugurates the Luc Robitaille Trophy for the team that scored the most goals during the regular season. Sixteen teams played 72 games each in the schedule. The Acadie-Bathurst Titan finished first overall in the regular season winning their first Jean Rougeau Trophy since relocating from Laval. The Victoriaville Tigres won their first President's Cup since relocating from Longueuil, by defeating the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the finals. Rimouski Océanic
The Rimouski Océanic are a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The franchise was granted for the 1969–70 season as the Sherbrooke Castors. The Castors played in Sherbrooke from 1969 to 1982 before moving to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, in 1982 to become the Saint-Jean Castors. In 1989, the team was renamed the Saint-Jean Lynx. In 1995, the team then moved to Rimouski, Quebec, to become the Rimouski Océanic. History The team won the QMJHL championship in the 1999–2000 season and went on to win the Memorial Cup that year, with a team featuring future NHL star Brad Richards. Sidney Crosby joined the team during the 2003–04 QMJHL season. Crosby's 135 points for the club set a new record for a 16-year-old in the QMJHL and was second only to Wayne Gretzky in that particular age-group for all Canadian hockey. Jason John Pominville (born November 30, 1982) is a Canadian- American former professional ice hockey right winger. He played for the Buffalo Sabres and the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Amateur As a youth, Pominville played in the 1995 and 1996 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with minor ice hockey teams from Repentigny, Quebec and Rive-Nord. Pominville played junior hockey for the Shawinigan Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Charles Linglet (born June 22, 1982) is a Canadian-Belarusian professional ice hockey Forward who last played for the Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). Playing career After having spent time with various AHL and ECHL teams, Linglet made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Edmonton Oilers in a game against the Dallas Stars on April 2, 2010. Linglet spent most of the 2009–10 season playing for the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL). He finished the season with 74 points in 75 games, and was named to the AHL's Second All-Star Team. In 2010, he moved to the KHL, joining Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Yanick Lehoux
Yanick Lehoux (born April 8, 1982) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for Malmö Redhawks of the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan. Lehoux was born in Montreal, Quebec. As a youth, he played in the 1996 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Rive-Nord Elites minor ice hockey team. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings, 86th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. After four seasons within the Kings organization, he attended the Phoenix Coyotes training camp, but was quickly reassigned to the AHL. On July 25, 2008, he was signed by the Montreal Canadiens as an unrestricted free agent to a one-year contract. He was not offered an extension with the Montreal Canadiens. Matthew Lombardi (born March 18, 1982) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey center who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Calgary Flames, Phoenix Coyotes, Nashville Predators, Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks. Playing career Lombardi was born and raised in Hudson, Quebec, a suburb of Montreal, Quebec. As a youth, he played in the 1995 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Lac-Saint-Louis-Ouest minor ice hockey team.
