2001 Fed Cup
The 2001 Fed Cup was the 39th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The World Group was held at the Parque Ferial Juan Carlos I in Madrid, Spain, from 7–11 November. It was reduced from thirteen to eight teams, divided into two pools, with the winners meeting in the finals. In the final, Belgium defeated Russia, giving Belgium their first title. The 2000 Fed Cup was the 38th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. Changes were made to the World Group; instead of two groups of eight teams, there was one group of thirteen. The group was divided in three round-robin pools of four, with the winner of each pool joining defending champions the United States in a knockout bracket. In the final, the United States defeated Spain at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, on 24–25 November, giving the United States their 17th title. Elena Dementieva
Elena Viacheslavovna Dementieva (, ; born 15 October 1981) is a Russian former professional tennis player. She won the singles gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, having previously won the silver medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. She won 16 WTA singles titles, reached the finals of the 2004 French Open and 2004 US Open and reached seven other Grand Slam semifinals. Dementieva was also part of the Russian team that won the 2005 Fed Cup. In doubles, she won the 2002 WTA Championships with Janette Husárová and was the runner-up in two US Open doubles finals – in 2002 with Husárová and in 2005 with Flavia Pennetta. Dementieva achieved a career-high ranking of world No. 3, which was accomplished on 6 April 2009. She announced her retirement on 29 October 2010, after her final match at the 2010 WTA Championships. Belek
Belek is a township in the Serik district in Turkey's Antalya Province. The local population in 2022 is 73,260. Belek is one of the centers of Turkey's tourism industry and is home to more than thirty four-star and five-star hotels and many other accommodation services and entertainment facilities.
