2025 Parañaque Local Elections
Local elections were held in Parañaque on May 12, 2025, as part of the 2025 Philippine general election. The electorate will elect a mayor, a vice mayor, sixteen members of the Parañaque City Council, and two district representatives to the House of Representatives of the Philippines. The officials elected will assume their respective offices on June 30, 2025, for a three-year term. Background Team Bagong Parañaque, led by brothers incumbent Mayor Eric Olivarez and incumbent first district representative Edwin Olivarez, dominated the 2022 Parañaque local elections. However, rumors started to circulate that similar to some of the other ruling political families in Metro Manila, the Olivarez family were also on the verge of splitting up over who should run for mayor between the two. Edwin Olivarez
Edwin de Leon Olivarez (born August 14, 1963) is a Filipino politician, athlete, and businessman currently serving as a Member of the Philippine House of Representatives from Parañaque's 1st District since 2022 and previously from 2010 to 2013. He previously served as Mayor of Parañaque from 2013 to 2022, as well as the Metro Manila Council Chair and head of the Regional Peace and Order Council – National Capital Region in concurrent capacity. He also served as board member of Laguna before serving as Vice Governor of Laguna from 2004 to 2007. He unsuccessfully ran for Governor of Laguna in 2007. Olivarez played on the national tennis team, and was NCAA Junior and Senior Tennis Champion. San Isidro is a barangay in Parañaque, Metro Manila, Philippines with a population of 79,372 as of the 2020 census. History Barangay San Isidro was established on April 3, 1978 through Presidential Decree No. 1323. San Dionisio is an administrative division in southern Metro Manila, Philippines. It is a barangay at the southwestern edge of Parañaque and north of its border with Manuyo, Las Piñas. The barangay is centered on the westernmost section of Dr. Santos Avenue (formerly Sucat Road) where it veers north and parallels Elpidio Quirino Avenue (former Calle Real) with De Leon Street and Aldana Avenue forming its boundaries with La Huerta, Parañaque, La Huerta and Manuyo Uno respectively. La Huerta (English language, English: The Garden) is a barangay in the city of Parañaque, Metro Manila, Philippines. It comprises a section of the old poblacion of Parañaque along the south bank of the Parañaque River by its mouth in Manila Bay. The coastal village encompasses the area from Don Galo on the north, Santo Niño, Parañaque, Santo Niño (former Ibayo) and Moonwalk, Parañaque, Moonwalk on the east and San Dionisio, Parañaque, San Dionisio on the south. Don Galo
Don Galo, also historically known as Dongalo (and erroneously as Longalo and Tungalo), is a barangay in Parañaque, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is located along the north bank of the Parañaque River by its mouth in Manila Bay. It is located directly west of the barangay of Santo Niño (former Ibayo), separated from it by the Estero de Tripa de Gallina stream, and between Tambo to the north and the Parañaque poblacion of La Huerta to the south. The legislative districts of Parañaque are the representations of the highly urbanized city of Parañaque in the Congress of the Philippines. The city is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress through its first and second congressional districts. Plurality block voting is a type of block voting method for multi-winner elections. Each voter may cast as many votes as the number of seats to be filled.
