2025 Cornwall Council Election
The 2025 Cornwall Council election was held on Thursday 1 May 2025 to elect all 87 councillors to Cornwall Council. It took place on the same day as other 2025 United Kingdom local elections, council elections across England. The council was under no overall control prior to the election, being run by a Conservative Party (UK), Conservative minority administration. Following the election, the council remained under no overall control, with Reform UK, which had no elected councillors at the prior ellection, the largest party but without a controlling majority. A Liberal Democrats (UK), Liberal Demcorat and Independent politician, independent administration subsequently formed to run the council after the election. Cornwall Council ( ), known between 1889 and 2009 as Cornwall County Council (), is the local authority which governs the non-metropolitan county of Cornwall in South West England. Since 2009 it has been a Unitary authorities of England, unitary authority, having taken over district-level functions when the county's districts were abolished. The non-metropolitan county of Cornwall is slightly smaller than the ceremonial county, which additionally includes the Isles of Scilly. The council's headquarters is Lys Kernow (also known as New County Hall) in Truro. The council has been under no overall control since July 2024.
